Final Machining Process Engineer

Job Description Summary The Lead Process Engineer for the final machining area has responsibility for all aspects of the manufacturing elements required to finish machine blade and vane components of gas turbine engines. There will be ownership of projects related to these processes to improve safety, quality, delivery, and manufacturing productivity. The role requires cross-functional team involvement to solve issues and make long term plans for improvements. This role has a people leader element for a small group of advanced machine technicians as well as project leadership. The final machining areas consist of NC mills, Inspection technologies, Automation systems for pick and place, Lead edge profile systems, manual benching, and dot marking systems (list is not all encompassing). The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities • Responsible for manufacturing processes utilizing NC milling machines with up to 5 axis of control. Knowledge and experience with NC controls including Haas, Fanuc, and Okuma • Develop a strong understanding of NC related machining processes, work holding fundamentals, tooling, and equipment used for compressor airfoil manufacturing. • Develop and maintain equipment upgrade strategy for area of discipline. • Ability to write equipment specifications, lead ordering, machine run-offs, installation, and final acceptance. Be the technical liaison to equipment manufacturers to ensure on time delivery of equipment. • Provide technical leadership and training plans for production technical resources. Set goals and expectations for a team of skilled individuals to drive shop floor support and assist on improvement projects. • Develop and execute on project plans of moderate impact often involving multiple support functions to accomplish. Ability to communicate targets and achievements across all levels of the business. • Aid in troubleshooting machining process or machine related issues, using root cause analysis to implement solutions. • Define and control production process including tooling and equipment. Validate design specifications and shop floor application of new product, tools, or equipment. Includes Manufacturing Engineers. • Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy. • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area. • Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions. • A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can hire and develop talent. Machine Operator- Shift 2 Shift 2: 3PM-11PM Hiring minimum is $17.20- 18.30 per hour POSITION SUMMARY: This key position requires the efficient and safe operation of a variety of machines on the milling production line.
