Newly hired production employees may be responsible for setting up, repairing, operating and supplying equipment to assemble ignition products and components in our Burlington, Iowa facility. The ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced tobacco/smoke free manufacturing environment is essential to your success at Tenneco. Candidates will be available for all shifts including a weekend shift. Mandatory overtime is required. Candidates must have a high school diploma/GED are required. Manufacturing or mechanical related experience or two years of post-high school technical education is preferred. A pre-employment physical and drug-screen are required. The Burlington Tenneco property and facility are smoke free and tobacco free. Please do not call the local Tenneco – Champion Ignition facility. Wages: There is a 6-month progression for wages. For all newly hired associates the wage rate will follow a progression schedule as follows: 0 – 6 months: 90% of top wage for the job After 6 months: 100% $1000 new hire bonus – paid $250 each 3 months with the team. Top rate for the Machine Operator / Machine Technician position: Approximately $22.00 Additionally, those assigned to 2nd shift are eligible for a $0.65/hour shift premium, those assigned to 3rd shift are eligible for a $0.65/hour shift premium, and those assigned to a weekend shift are eligible for a higher rate of pay per hour. As a newly hired production employee, your responsibilities will include setting up, repairing, operating, and supplying equipment to assemble ignition products and components at our Burlington, Iowa facility. The ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced setting is essential for your success at Tenneco. You will be expected to work across all shifts, including weekends, and mandatory overtime is a requirement of the job. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED, and while manufacturing or mechanical-related experience is preferred, two years of post-high school technical education will also be considered. Please note that a pre-employment physical and drug screening are mandatory for all candidates. Additionally, the Burlington Tenneco property and facility maintain a smoke-free and tobacco-free environment. Wages for this position follow a structured progression over the first six months, starting at 90% of the top wage for the job, which is approximately $21.00 per hour. After six months, employees will receive the full wage. New hires are also eligible for a $1000 bonus, paid in increments of $250 every three months. Those assigned to 2nd and 3rd shifts will receive a $0.65/hour shift premium, and those working weekend shifts will be compensated at a higher hourly rate.
