CNC Machinist - 2nd shift (Cedar Rapids) Local Tool & Die job shop is looking for a qualified CNC machinist to join our team. (4) ten hours shifts Monday through Thursday. Optional overtime available Friday and Saturday as workload allows. Candidates should have schooling and or experience as a Machinist with CNC mills and manual machines. This is not a "CNC button-pushing" job, we need people who can solve problems and adapt to changing requirements and deadlines daily. We build one-of-a-kind metal stamping tools to meet the production needs of our customers. The work being done is rarely the same day-to-day. You will be making multiple set-ups on different parts daily. Preferred candidates would: · Be ambitious, with a strong drive to learn and work · Have experience in Hurco or any conversational type programming · Be capable of running a Johnford Bridge Mill. · Be able to read and adjust programs and G&M codes · Be able to set up tools, understand and make cutter comp adjustments · Have experience in or with Master-Cam or any programming software - preferred but not required · Be well versed in reading and understanding blueprints · Be able to read bore gages, calipers, etc. Candidates will need to supply their own basic machinist hand and measuring tools. Essential Duties • Plans for each day’s machining by studying blueprints, engineering plans, and materials. • Analyzes information and finds the best solutions to problems. • Programs CNC mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points. • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling, and thread-chasing operations. • Adhering to safety procedures and regulations to ensure safe operations. • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance. • Continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions in our internal electronic system. • Confers with engineers, production, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
