The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience in HVAC/R systems, ensuring efficient operation and maintenance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. This role is essential for maintaining comfortable environments on our district campuses. Primary Purpose: Responsible for HVAC/Refrigeration installation and repairs Window unit repairs and ventilation system repairs Qualifications: Education/Certification: Valid Texas driver’s license High School Diploma or GED Preferred TACLB Class B License Preferred EPA Certification Required Journeyman electrical preferred Special Knowledge/ Skills: • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions • Ability to communicate effectively • Ability to operate power and hand tools safely • Ability to work independently • Ability to read and follow blueprints and diagrams • Knowledge of equipment, materials, methods, practices, and tools used in HVAC Experience: Two years in HVAC service and installation Electrical experience needed Major Responsibilities and Duties: 1. Assist the maintenance director as needed. 2. Complete all repairs originating from the approved district work request. 3. Maintain an orderly vehicle and repair station. 4. Maintain district property and equipment. 5. Provide a safe and comfortable environment for students and employees. 6. Perform all plant and facilities maintenance as assigned by the supervisor. 7. Operate equipment and use tools following established safety procedures. 8. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc. 9. Correct unsafe conditions in the area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately. 10. Maintain tools and equipment. 11. Perform preventative maintenance as required. 12. Maintain and service all HVAC equipment district wide. 13. Perform all other duties as assigned by the administration. Equipment Used: Gas torch, welder, all tools pertaining to HVAC industry, power tools, etc. Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Facts: Continual walking and standing; occasional heavy lifting and carrying; climbing, stooping, bending kneeling, and reaching.
