We are looking to hire an experienced HVAC Service Technician to join our team. We are willing to train. Job Description • Perform preventive maintenance procedures for all HVAC equipment, including, but not limited to, changing of filters, cleaning condenser and evaporator coils, safety control verification, heat exchanger integrity inspections as well as logging equipment operating parameters. • Ability to diagnose and repair malfunctions in various types of heating and air conditioning systems. Repair, replace, or calibrate thermostats and switches. • May assist in the installation of new heating and air conditioning systems and components and relocate and expand existing HVAC systems as needed. Connect motors, compressors, temperature controls, and humidity controls according to wiring schematics. • Receive and complete work orders and maintain accurate records on material and labor usage on jobs through electronic hand held devices. • Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean. • Maintain inventory of company-owned tools, equipment, and materials including maintaining refrigerant usage records to meet federal requirements. • Respond to emergency calls as needed. JOB SUMMARY The HVAC Mechanic I works under general supervision to provide skilled mechanical work installing, maintaining, and repairing heating cooling equipment in assigned university buildings on one of three work shifts. To be successful in this role, the HVAC Mechanic must be able to perform standard job duties along with the following experience and trade skills: • Performs more complex diagnostic HVAC repairs. • Diagnoses root cause of problems and/or failures in HVAC systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair and replacement needs. • Informs appropriate supervisory or managerial personnel of unusual conditions, problems, or deficiencies, and takes appropriate action. • Repairs HVAC systems and/or components (e.g. pumps, motors, AHU's, exhaust fans, piping, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring campus cooling and heating needs are met. • Works with vendors and contractors getting quotes for equipment repairs. • Ensures proper repairs are made to the equipment. Work Location: Dallas Campus; assist other UTSW facilities as needed. Shift Requirement: Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm (this shift could change and is not guaranteed; available shift discussed during interview) EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Required • Education High School Diploma or equivalent • Experience • One (1) year of experience in operation and maintenance of large (25,000 cfm) air handling equipment, steam pressure reducing stations, heating and chilled water systems and pumps and • Must be a self-starter and have good communication skills. • **INCLUDE UPDATED RESUME AND LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION COPIES WITH APPLICATION SUBMISSION*** JOB DUTIES • Operates and monitors equipment, which admits steam into each building from central distribution point, pressure reducing stations, ensuring that steam is admitted into pipes at proper rate, and auxiliary equipment. • Inspects and adjusts air handlers, pumps, steam valves, electrical and pneumatic control systems, etc. • Makes minor and major adjustments and repairs and performs preventative maintenance work such as repairing water and steam valves, cleaning and greasing machinery and making minor electrical and/or other repairs to water, gas, and steam pipes, and other equipment. • Makes regular patrols through mechanical rooms to record condition and operation of equipment to ensure its being scheduled into preventative program before failure. • Performs minor welding, brazing, and cutting, using acetylene or arc welder. • Troubleshoots, repairs and replaces general and laboratory exhaust fan systems. • Inspects, dismantles, repairs, and reassembles equipment as directed.
