Position Summary: We are looking for a skilled and motivated HVAC Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining residential HVAC systems while providing a 5-star experience to our customers. Department Summary The University of North Texas Health Science Center HVAC Department is responsible for diagnosis, maintenance, and installation of various commercial HVAC& Refrigeration, and autoclave systems throughout campus. Position Overview The HVAC Foreman is responsible for daily maintenance, repair, and installation of various roof top units, mini splits, water coolers, walk in coolers, walk in freezers, kitchen equipment, and related systems. The HVAC foreman is also responsible for managing work orders in the work order system, managing HVAC shop, vehicles, and employees. The Foreman ensures satisfaction and sets the example for others in the department to follow. The Foreman works under the Assistant Director of Facilities Administration. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Possess a broad knowledge of and the repair of HVAC/Refrigeration systems, including installation, repair, and preventive maintenance procedures. • Knowledge of autoclave systems. • Skilled in diagnostics and hands on repair, assigning tasks to direct report, and monitoring workflow based on operational priorities. • Ability to evaluate employee performance, provide constructive feedback, and enforce departmental standards. • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory requirements in mechanical system operations. • Ability to investigate workplace incidents and maintain documentation related to safety and compliance. • Strong communication skills to coordinate with stakeholders and ensure work meets quality standards. • Ability to manage material requisitions, inventory, and budget-related tasks efficiently. • Knowledge of energy efficiency practices and sustainable maintenance procedures. Preferred Qualifications N/A Required License/Registration/Certifications EPA Certification, HVAC/ Refrigeration license B Job Duties: • Oversees the installation, repair, alteration, maintenance and control of refrigeration, heating, ventilating and cooling systems. • Determines schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment and skill of personnel. • Conducts performance evaluations, sets tasks and determines need for disciplinary action. • Enters/closes work orders and is responsible for a budget (but not fully accountable). • Inspects and monitors work areas, examines tools and equipment, and provides employee safety training to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules. • Investigates accidents or injuries and prepare reports of findings. • Monitors employees work levels and reviews work performance. • Requisitions materials and supplies, such as tools, equipment, or replacement parts. • Manages and develops all employees within the electrical department. Bi-lingual is a bonus. • Have the ability to walk around the job site, to business meetings, etc . • Have the ability to operate a computer and other industry specific productivity machinery, such as a calculator and telephone. • Have the ability to talk/hear/communicate with Cary Services office staff and/or customers by phone or in person, exchanging accurate information in these situations. • Have the ability to repeatedly lift irregularly shaped tools/hardware weighing 50 pounds, throughout the work day. • Have the ability to climb ladders and work on building roofs productively at heights of 50 feet. • Have the ability to work in extreme hot and cold conditions.
