HVAC Refrigeration Mechanic

Southeastern Louisiana University’s Department of Physical Plant Services invites applications for the position of HVAC Refrigeration Mechanic. This position is responsible for a variety of tasks relating to installation, repairs, and maintenance of HVAC systems and refrigeration units across the campus. Duties include diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults and performing tasks such as cleaning, adjusting, and repairing HVAC systems. Candidates must possess the appropriate EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification for technicians (as required under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, 1990). Southeastern requires a Type IV, Universal Certification. Please note that Southeastern will allow the candidate selected for the job up to 60 days to acquire the required certification. The summer work schedule for this position is: Monday – Thursday, 6:00am – 4:30pm with a 30 minute lunch. Current hourly rate: $21.05 EXAMS, LICENSE, AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to be certified through the Southeastern Defensive Driving Course Appropriate EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification for technicians (as required under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, 1990). Southeastern requires a Type IV, Universal Certification. Please note that Southeastern will allow the candidate selected for the job up to 30 days to acquire the required certification. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Two years of experience or training in the installation and/or maintenance of heating, ventilating, or air conditioning systems. HVAC Technician

We are looking to hire a detail-oriented HVAC technician to install, maintain and repair HVAC systems. The HVAC technician will be skilled in cleaning, adjusting and repairing systems. You will be responsible for air quality systems from installation to end-of-life by performing maintenance, warranty and emergency repairs.
