HVAC and Refrigeration Technician

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled HVAC and refrigeration technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HVAC and Refrigeration equipment including all types of air condition units, electric motors, heating units, heat pumps, hermetic compressors, intake and exhaust fans, economizers and humidifiers, chillers, RTUs, remote condensing units, ice machines, walk-in coolers & freezers, and upright refrigerators & freezers. The HVAC Technician will be responsible for diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and maintaining equipment to ensure efficient operation. Duties • Install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems including air conditioning units, heaters, and refrigeration systems. • Conduct routine inspections of HVAC systems to identify potential issues and perform necessary repairs. • Troubleshoot mechanical problems and provide effective solutions for equipment repair. • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused work environment; ability to balance workload and customers’ needs. • Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding system performance and maintenance needs. • Maintain accurate records of service calls, repairs performed, and parts used. • Repair of refrigeration, air conditioning, heating, control systems, and humidity and temperature control systems. Skills • Strong mechanical knowledge related to HVAC/R systems and appliance repair. • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing various HVAC equipment including air conditioning units and refrigeration systems. • Experience as a service technician in the HVAC industry is preferred. • Provides start-ups and troubleshooting for a variety of commercial HVAC/R systems, meets with customers, evaluates their needs and makes recommendations. • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in all aspects of work. • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members. • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. HVAC Technician III

Annual Salary: $58,305.00 - $62,400.00 Hourly: $29.90 - $32.00 Department: General Government, Maintenance & Trades Division: HVAC FLSA: Non-Exempt Job Description: $3,000 BONUS $1,500 ON FIRST PAY CHECK $1,500 AFTER 120-DAYS WORKED In this role, you will perform HVAC installation and maintenance at City-owned facilities. Examples of Duties: • Performs HVAC installation, preventative maintenance and repairs on various types of equipment including split systems, package units, rooftop units, bay heaters, mini splits, etc. • Installs, maintains and repairs ice machines. • Operates specialized equipment and tools related to the trade discipline. • May lead the work of maintenance crews at the worksite, ensuring that the work is performed safely and efficiently. • Receives work orders, prioritizes and distributes them according to division procedures. • Estimates project materials from blueprints, and purchases necessary supplies. • Maintains records of all work performed. • Works extended hours, as necessary, during shutdowns of equipment and/or buildings. • Performs other duties as assigned. HVAC Technician - Facilities and Engineering

Job Responsibilities: The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is accepting applicants for a HVAC Technician in the Facilities and Engineering Department. This position is responsible for the following: • Repair maintenance of all campus Mechanical, Air Conditioning, Heating, & Ventilation systems and refrigeration equipment, ice machines, walk-in cooler & freezers, kitchen equipment, dishwasher & cooking equipment, & computerized energy management systems. • Performs Preventive Maintenance on all HVAC and auxiliary equipment. • Assists in making repairs to all air conditioning and chiller systems; chill water pumps and cooling to water pumps, cooling towers, hot water, and steam heating systems, mechanical systems and associated equipment. • Responsible for operating energy management systems; as well as works on low and high voltage control systems which are parts of HVAC equipment. Minimum Qualifications: Must have a high school diploma and four(4) years of experience in mechanical trades field or four years in the Mechanical/Electrical trades area. Must be certified in Refrigerant Transition & Recovery. Knowledge required in the operation and maintenance of: industrial rotary screw, centrifugal and ice storage, chilled water systems ranging from 100 to 350 tons; hot water and steam heating systems; commercial and residential refrigerant, split air conditioning systems, gas package unit heaters and heat pumps ranging from 1.5 to 120 tons; residential gas appliances; refrigerant equipment, and other auxiliary equipment including but not limited to commercial galley and kitchen equipment. Must be capable of: reading blue prints, drawings, and electrical schematics and be able to demonstrate a proficiency at brazing and soldering of piping and tubing. Must understand and repair chemical feed pumps. Take water sample of PH levels. Add chemical as needed. Have open communication skills. Continuing education of CFC refrigerants and future alternatives and safety standard. Work independently or as a team, with limited supervision, using oral or written instructions. Work conditions subject to 24 hour emergency callout on evenings, weekends, and holidays, including extreme weather and climatic conditions of humidity, heat and cold. Must be capable of: repetitively lifting objects weighing 50 pounds to waist height and transporting a distance of 10 feet; working off roofs, scaffolds, ladders and platforms at high elevations up to 100 feet off of the ground.
