A DAY IN THE LIFE The Electrician position performs service on residential and commercial electrical work as well as new construction. Electrician's work may include, but is not limited to installing, maintaining, and repairing wiring, placing, or replacing electrical circuit-breaker panels, switches, and resistors. Duties and Responsibilities • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and install electrical elements in a domestic environment. • Assist customers in evaluating repair versus replacement options. • Sustain proper supply, parts, tools, and safety equipment in the truck. • Travel to job sites within the service area and maintain communication with dispatchers and your manager to ensure schedule is maintained and delays are effectively communicated to the customer. • Properly complete paperwork and obtain customer authorization/signatures for the financial decision at the completion of the job. • Willingness to pursue, develop and participate in continuing education. • Knowledgeable of local electrical codes with the ability to apply them in a pragmatic manner on each job. • Work with inspectors, suppliers, and co-workers to make sure work performed correctly and within code requirements. • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters and voltmeters to ensure compatibility and safety of system. • Maintain good working order of Company vehicle. Includes: refueling and servicing as necessary, reporting mechanical issues, washing, and cleaning the Company vehicle on a regular basis. • Assist in training electrical helpers • Perform other duties as assigned by management. Work Days • Normal work schedule is Monday - Friday, but must have the flexibility to work weekend, holidays, and after hours when required. • Available to work on-call rotation. • Willing to work overtime when the situation arises. Qualifications/ Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Be knowledgeable or have the willingness to learn to operate an iPad. • Experience in residential and light commercial electrical systems • Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools (e.g. wire strippers, voltmeter etc.) and electrical drawings and blueprints • Own a complete set of personal hand tools (pliers, testers, screwdrivers, cordless drill, etc.). • Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelines • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability Physical Requirements • Must be able to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, twist, and bend for extended periods of time. • Lift and carry material weighing up to 75 lbs; occasionally lifting items weighing more than 100 lbs with assistance. • Ability to climb and utilize a ladder safely. • Good physical fitness; hand-eye coordination and ability to quickly respond to sounds. • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors, including outdoors in time so excessive heat and inclement weather.
