Electrical & Instrumentation Technician

As an electrical and instrumentation technician, you will be responsible for maintaining the electrical and instrumentation equipment at the production facility. The individual will be responsible for performing routine maintenance of the facility’s electrical equipment. About the Role: Some of your day-to-day duties include: • Inspects, tests, adjusts, calibrates, and repairs electric, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments and systems used to indicate, and record • Inspects meters, indicators, and gauges to detect abnormal fluctuations • Maintains a functional knowledge of the operations software and hardware • Make preventative maintenance inspections of all control instrumentation • Troubleshoots electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical failures and the aptitude to correct those failures • Complete work order cycles, performs work, confirm time, and enter equipment history • Diagnoses existing or potential trouble with plant electrical equipment • Cleans, lubricates, calibrates, and adjusts as conditions indicate • Lays out, installs, and places electrical equipment into service • Performs housekeeping duties as requested, is responsible for keeping designated area clean and clear of safety hazards • Multi-craft skill set is a plus; ability to perform additional maintenance tasks as assigned Who you are? Electrical Supervisor

As Electrical Supervisor, you will plan and lead a team of electricians and PLC technicians in the areas of safety, quality and maintenance for all equipment and facilities in order to meet department and unit goals. You will facilitate team meetings & trainings; identify safety, environmental, quality & production issues; collaborate with the production team to maximize productivity and minimize cost and reduce waste; develop the skill set of associates; and proactively address team issues or concerns. Additionally, you will lead your team by proactively resolving employee issues, building teamwork, and ensuring adherence to all applicable site policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner. As such, you are expected to have a proven track record of demonstrating safety excellence, driving positive change, improving maintenance systems, and effectively leading employees. Key Functions • Lead a team of electricians and PLC programmers to meet department and unit goals in equipment and building safety, quality and maintenance • Improve preventive and predictive maintenance methods and systems to reduce unscheduled downtime • Utilize reliable troubleshooting methods to ensure production volume, quality and overall uptime goals are met • Apply electrical theory and related knowledge to test and modify developmental or operational electrical machinery, and electrical control equipment and circuitry in industrial environments • Oversee, test, adjust, or install electronic equipment such as industrial controls, circuit boards and switches; and reprogram PLC controls • Parts procurement, planning and daily/weekly scheduling of work for the electrical team • Plan, develop, manage and provide effective leadership for the maintenance team through: • Ensuring the safety of all associates by identifying safety issues and taking measures to proactively address concerns • Driving an electrical safety culture based on NFPA 70E compliance • Actively leading and developing the electrical maintenance team to ensure effective communication across & between shifts and with the production teams • Effectively implement training resources to build team capacity by enhancing and building the team's technical skills • Use computer-based programs to prioritize maintenance requests, manage maintenance inventory, and plan and schedule the weekly work for the electrical department • Research and Procure necessary parts for repairs/upgrades Qualifications • High School Diploma/GED (or higher) • Associate degree in Electrical Technology or related field • At least 5 years of electrical and controls experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, with an understanding of industrial electrical components • Ability to program and troubleshoot AC or DC power inverters/frequency drives • Proven expertise in preventative and predictive maintenance systems and methods • Ability to read and understand electrical power and control system schematics • Ability to identify root cause of problems and effectively initiate immediate corrective action to prevent reoccurrence • Track record of consistently demonstrating leadership skills as well as positive influence and accomplishments in proactively influencing safety, environment, quality, productivity and people development • Demonstrated computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, other Windows-based programs, internet, and computer-based maintenance programs (SAP, Maximo, etc.) • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends, when necessary and accept calls during non-business hours, as needed • Demonstrated results in achieving and sustaining business goals • Industrial control system design, programming and troubleshooting experience • Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical diagrams and drawings Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in related field such as Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field • At least 3 years' experience managing a team in an industrial environment • PLC Expert • Familiarity with electrical power distribution systems • Knowledge of mechanical and fluid power systems • USNR scanner knowledge About Wood Products We've been delivering quality building products and solutions to our customers for more than 100 years.
