Job Summary We are seeking skilled Instrumentation and Electrical Technicians to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of alarm and control panel systems on maritime vessels and facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical systems, instrumentation, and maritime and industrial specific applications, with the ability to work in dynamic, environments. This position requires hands-on technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety standards. Key Responsibilities • Install, calibrate, and commission instrumentation and electrical components for alarm and control panels on boats, barges ships, platforms, various marine equipment, and industrial environments. • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and diagnostics on electrical systems, including sensors, PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), wiring, and control interfaces. • Troubleshoot and repair faults in alarm systems, monitoring panels, and integrated control networks to minimize downtime and ensure compliance with maritime safety regulations (e.g., SOLAS, IMO, NFPA, USCG standards). • Conduct testing and validation of systems using specialized tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and diagnostic software. • Collaborate with engineering teams to modify or upgrade existing control panels based on client specifications or regulatory updates. • Prepare technical reports, documentation, and schematics for installations, repairs, and system performance. • Ensure all work adheres to industry safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, hazardous area classifications, and environmental considerations in marine and industrial settings. • Provide on-site support during vessel commissioning, sea trials, or emergency responses, which may involve travel to ports or offshore locations. • Assist in training junior technicians and end-users on system operation and basic maintenance. Qualifications and Requirements • Associate's degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Technology, or a related field. • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an electrical or instrumentation technician, preferably in the maritime, offshore, marine, or industrial electronics industry. • Proven knowledge of electrical systems, instrumentation (e.g., pressure, temperature, flow sensors), and control panels used in maritime and industrial applications. • Familiarity with maritime and industrial regulations and standards, such as USCG, ABS, USCG, NFPA, API or IMO guidelines. • Experience with PLC programming, SCADA systems, and networking protocols (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP) is highly desirable. • Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying weather conditions typical of maritime environments. • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, with a valid passport and TWIC. • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently or in a team under pressure. • Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients, engineers, and crew members. Skills • Proficient in using electrical testing equipment and diagnostic tools. • Knowledge of hazardous area equipment and intrinsically safe systems. • Basic understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and automation in control panels. • Proficiency in reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals. • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and specialized software for system configuration.
