Electrical Maintenance Technician

The Electrical Technician will support the manufacturing facility by providing quality maintenance to the equipment's reliability and availability. The technician will utilize their skills and knowledge of electrical equipment, electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and rigging, in our manufacturing environment to smooth operation of equipment. Duties and Responsibilities: • Provide electrical and basic maintenance support to all plant operations. • Identify electrical problems, lay-out corrective action, and perform necessary repairs on plant equipment. • Perform routine preventative maintenance. • Coordinate maintenance activities with plant production schedules to minimize down-time. • Troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace electrical, electronic, and instrumentation devices. • Experience with variable frequency drives and smart field instruments (i.e., pressure, flow, temperature, level, and analytical transmitters, valve positioners, valve actuators and PID controllers). • Properly store and organize spare parts and equipment. • Maintain a clean and safe work environment. • Notify supervisor of operating and/or equipment difficulties. • Work with a team to provide general maintenance assistance to maintenance technicians, welders, and fabricators. • Timely completion of all work assignments. Non-routine duties: Take initiative to trouble shoot and maintain equipment in operable condition. • Operate a forklift. • Manage work tasks, status and completion, through ERP (PLEX) software. • Must provide their own basic tools for electrical work. • The position requires being on call. • Perform other duties as defined and assigned by management. Required Competencies: • Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to install and set up both A/C and D/C drives and troubleshoot basic 3-phase motor control circuits. Operational knowledge of automated industrial machinery including motors, solenoids, servos, pumps, drives, relays, 3 phase power, communication devices, and industrial/electronic controls. Ability to pull wire, bend and install conduit. • Critical Thinking Skills: Ability to troubleshoot and repair plant wide electrical power systems, working with AC and DC voltages. • Communication: Have good written and verbal communication skills capable of properly communicating with peers and supervisors. • Teamwork: Ability to effectively work with a team • Math skills • Attention to Detail and Follow Through: Ensure accuracy and completion of tasks. • Initiative: Routine duties: Provide a variety of maintenance services in a safe and efficient manner. Exercise judgement to provide prompt, correct analysis of mechanical failures and timely completion of all work assignments. Non-routine duties: Take initiative to trouble shoot and maintain equipment in operable condition. • Progressive Learning Skills: Including written instructions, retaining and applying new skills and processes • Time Management: Ability to manage workload in a timely manner and complete tasks according to priority. • Computer literacy: Has the knowledge and ability to use computers and related technology efficiently. • Judgment: Demonstrates sound decision-making ability to benefit Chemstar Products Company. Experience: 5 years of job-related experience in Industrial electrical systems. Ability to read and interpret both electrical and instrumentation drawings and PLC Ladder Logic as well as basic understanding of PLC and Distributed Control Systems (DCS) preferred but not required. Working Conditions: Working in an industrial environment involving continuous exposure to dust, noise, temperature variations both indoors and outdoors. Working from elevated platforms and ladders and in tight spaces. Safety boots, glasses and hard hats are required in all plant operational areas. A safety harness is required when working in elevated areas. Various chemicals are used on site and employees may be required to use additional PPE when needed. May be required to be on call and work outside regular hours. Physical Demand: Continuous physical effort is normally required. Climbing ladders, working at heights, and working in safety harness are normal aspects of the job. Handling of 50-to-55-pound equipment is normal.
