Position Summary Plant Electricians will use their knowledge and skills to troubleshoot and solve electrical controls problems on existing equipment/processes while maintaining all company safety standards. The Plant Electrician will be called upon to assist and work closely with Engineering Dept. to continuously improve equipment and manufacturing processes. Industrial type electrical work. • Power distribution switchgear breakers and transformers. • Motor control and power circuits controlling motors ranging from fractional to several hundred horsepower. • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and HMI (Human Machine Interface, controls systems through virtual video displays). • Instrumentation devices to sense or measure temperatures, flows, pressures, speed, level, acidities, etc. Types of equipment to expect. • Overhead bridge cranes. • Electrical Motor driven pumps. • Hydraulic drive motors and pumps. • Belt or Screw conveyors. • Large blowers and fans. • Large mixers and fans. Tools to be expected. • Standard hand tools (screwdrivers, ratchets, sockets, hammers etc.) • Electrical testing tools (Multimeter, voltmeter, ohmmeter, insulation tester, etc.) • Communication line testing tools. • Drills, saws, bandsaws, conduit bender, threader, wire/cable puller etc. Understanding of and ability to comprehend. • Electrical theory. • Electrical drawings and schematics. • Ladder logic. • Trouble shooting electrical systems and their repair. • Motors and generators. • Variable Frequency Drives. • Some network communication. Overview: The Instrument and Electrical Technician (I&E Tech) will be responsible for maintenance of instruments and electrical systems in the Marietta manufacturing plant. Primary Responsibilities: • Responsible for working as an electrically skilled person as defined in the Electrical Work Practices. Longer term as this person gains experience he/she will be expected to perform the role of facility representative as defined in the electrical work practices • Troubleshoots and diagnoses instrument and electrical problems and selects and implements corrective actions. Removes and replaces components at the board level • Identifies DCS and PLC hardware problems and replaces cards • Troubleshoots and programs PLC software • Calibrates process instruments according to applicable standards. Operates and maintains instrument and electrical testing equipment • Maintains electrical hardware typically up to 480 volts • Plans, prioritizes and schedules instrument and electrical maintenance with supervision and technician input • Designs and implements corrective actions identified in incident reports and work orders • Maintains and completes instrument and electrical system preventative maintenance activities. Identifies and defines required procedures and inspection frequency • Generates and evaluates reliability data from the maintenance database (SAP). Determines areas of focus for reliability/cost reduction projects • Requests/performs failure analysis as needed • Designs instruments loops and electrical systems.
