Senior Electrical Design Engineer

The Electrical Engineer, Electrical Design Engineer or Electrical Controls Engineer, is responsible for developing electrical drawings and schematics that are compliant with the NEC, NFPA, and UL codes and standards. Advanced knowledge of both NFPA 70 and 79 are required for the position, especially as it relates to Article 500 pertaining to hazardous locations, both Class 1 & Class 2. Advanced knowledge is also required for UL in both UL508a and UL698a control panels. In addition to electrical design, the Electrical Engineer’s duties also include auditing the manufacturing process for new electrical equipment for adherence and overseeing the installation process of their designs. Requirements: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Analyzes engineering proposals, process requirements, costs, time limitations, planning and related technical data to determine feasibility of product proposal. • Prepare designs, including calculations, drawings, and bills of material for release to manufacturing. • Devise new approaches to problems encountered and participate in the research and development of new products. • Interface with all shop personnel, engineering, sales, quality assurance, and purchasing to meet the customer requirements. • Interface with customers on technical changes to the job and revise job requirements • Check designs, including drawings, calculations and bills of materials originated by others. • Responsible for investigating and correcting product quality deficiencies. This role may also be assigned to lead the electrical engineering function associated with major capital projects and will also lead commissioning, startups, and troubleshooting activities.
