Electrical Field Technician

Electrical Distribution Field Technician This long-term opportunity offers steady full-time hours, paid training, weekly pay, mentorship, and room to grow within a well-established company. • Inspect overhead (OH) and underground (UG) electrical distribution facilities. • Collect and document field data. • Prepare minor work orders and maintenance reports. • Assist with storm damage assessments. • Communicate clearly with internal teams, clients, and agencies. The ideal candidate will have a proven history of reliability, punctuality, and strong attention to detail, as well as 1 year of work experience in any field. Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and interest in learning AutoCAD, GIS mapping software, or electrical design tools are also desired. Posting Number S Job Description Under general direction of a lead worker or supervision by departmental administrator performs highly skilled electrical work. Installs, maintains & repairs electrical equipment & systems (e.g., electrical systems, wiring, motors). Provides work direction, training and mentoring of lower-level electricians and/or other trades workers performing craft duties. Established pattern of good work habits and performance with good interpersonal skills. • Adheres to all OSHA and/or Ohio University required safety guidelines. • Provide work direction, training, and mentoring of lower level electricians and other workers engaged in electrical installation, repair, and maintenance. • Installs, maintains and repairs electrical equipment (e.g., electrical systems including work with high voltage systems & work with electric control circuits, wiring, motors, appliances, lighting, fans, transformers, heating and cooling equipment, elevators and switches); troubleshoots electrical control circuits and high voltage systems. • Performs other miscellaneous duties (i.e., makes sketches, reads blueprints, makes cost estimates, determines materials and time needed, completed reports) • Performs inventory control, work scheduling and work order control. Completes necessary documentation. Uses computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). • Performs other related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications • Journey-level working knowledge of electrical methods and applications, National Electric Code, and safety practices regarding electricity; skill in installing, maintaining & repairing electrical equipment, reading blueprints • Ability to understand system mechanical procedures • Read & write common vocabulary in sentence structure; add, subtract, multiply & divide whole numbers, calculate fractions, decimals & percentages • Ability to apply principles to solve practical problems • Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, schematic and pictorial form • Work independently or with others • Willingness to foster a welcoming and respectful workforce and community • Demonstrate dexterity and skill in use of craft-associated hand &/or power tools & equipment • Knowledge of all applicable OSHA and/or Ohio University safety guidelines and procedures • Work at heights • Lift up to 50 lbs • 48 months skilled experience in electrical work, or equivalent • Written and practical test may be required. • Valid Drivers License • May be exposed to dirt, grease, odors, cramped conditions, extreme hot or cold temperatures, heights, and electrical hazards—electrical shocks & high voltage; may be exposed to dangerous machinery; work at extended heights from ladders or bucket trucks; confined spaces • May work outside exposed to weather • An established pattern of good work habits and performance with good interpersonal skills.
