POSITION SUMMARY: The Journeyman Electrician coordinates work with other Maintenance staff and Contractors. Works closely with production to continually improve safety, equipment productivity and performance. Accountable for the upkeep and proper functionality of all electrical equipment and systems in the assigned facility. Success in this role will be demonstrated by the continued successful completion of assigned tasks with minimized equipment downtime. MAJOR TASKS: • Work under the supervision of Maintenance Manager • Ensure the proper functionality of all electrical equipment in the facility • Comply with all safety rules and regulations • Appropriate use and handling of electrical testing and repair equipment • Maintain electrical parts inventories records and place orders for spare parts and equipment • Keeping detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation • Read electrical prints • Schedule routine checks for spotting any malfunctions, following all safety norms and standard operating procedures of working • Coordinating work functions with co-workers and other organizational departments • Experience in reading, understanding and troubleshooting complex PLC programs • Maintaining a clean and environmentally safe work area • Completing all tasks and general duties as assigned SKILL REQUIREMENTS: • Good computer skills, PLC software, Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook • Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written • Ability to identify technical malfunctions in electrical units and PLC’s • Must have good understanding of PLC systems as well as the ability to make alterations to the PLC program • Sound understanding of handling and using electrical repair tools and equipment • Ability to effectively manage time and coordinate work functions with co-workers • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times Education and Qualifications: • High School diploma or GED equivalent • 2 - 3 years of PLC troubleshooting and repair as an electrician in an industrial/manufacturing setting • 2 - 3 years of proficient experience at troubleshooting all types of electrical equipment • Passed physical exam after job offer. Passed pre-employment criminal background and drug screening • Completed certified apprenticeship program as Electrician (Journey Level) • Be available to work holidays and weekends • Have a strong commitment to safety excellence, and work well in a team environment
