As an Electrical Technician in the Manufacturing industry, your primary role is to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems on machinery and equipment. This job typically requires a combination of technical expertise and hands-on skills. Electrical Technicians are responsible for testing, diagnosing, and repairing faults in electrical systems, as well as conducting preventative maintenance to ensure machinery operates efficiently. Uses independent judgment and exercises discretion in executing their duties. This position requires a high degree of confidentiality. Essential Functions • Install and maintain electrical systems and equipment. • Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues. • Design and modify electrical systems to meet specifications. • Follow safety procedures and regulations related to electrical work. • Interpret technical diagrams and schematics. • Communicate with other departments and team members regarding electrical projects and issues. • Perform regular maintenance to ensure optimal efficiency and performance. • Keep accurate records of all electrical work performed. • Evaluate and recommend new equipment or technology to improve processes. • Stay current on industry trends and advancements in electrical systems and equipment. • Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications • Accredited technical school or apprenticeship preferred and/or equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position. • Two (2) years of technical education in electronics and/or five (5) years of related experience. • Must be able to logically engineer, design, draw schematics, troubleshoot and repair electrical/electronic equipment efficiently. • Knowledge of electrical components and electrical safety codes and regulations. • Must be proficient with electronic and PLC Technology and programming. Must be familiar with electrical theory, NEC codes, OSHA standards and other governing agency requirements. • Must be experienced with voltage up to 480 volts three phase. • Experience in working in an industrial environment. • Excellent troubleshooting skills and repair. • Computer skills and PLC programming a plus; Auto-CAD drawings of circuit boards. • Good written and verbal communication skills. Minimal travel may be necessary for training. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Work will be performed in a variety of places (plant, offices and including high, low, or even in confined spaces).
