JOB POSITION: ELECTRICIAN 2 – Carson City, NV SCHEDULE: Full Time SALARY: $45,142.56 - $66,628.08 LOCATION: CARSON CITY, NEVADA, US, 89701 TO APPLY: Please apply online at https://careers.nv.gov/job/CARSON-CITY-ELECTRICIAN-2-NEVA-89701/847730800/ Position Description This position is with the Department of Administration, State Public Works Division, Buildings and Grounds Section, located in Carson City and reports directly to the Facility Manager; this position also supports the Las Vegas Buildings and Grounds Section. Statewide travel in support of the Las Vegas Buildings and Grounds operations is required. Electricians perform skilled electrical work to troubleshoot, diagnose, maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment. Incumbent must possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced level work and may provide work direction and training to others. Electricians apply logical and systematic problem-solving skills when responding to Work Orders, performing and/or implementing Preventive Maintenance work, and estimating cost of repairs and new construction. Incumbent must be able to read, correct, and maintain blueprints. The incumbent must have and maintain a valid Driver's License. This position requires a flexible work schedule to meet the needs of the department; for emergency situations (stand-by status); projects as they arise, and call backs. The incumbent must pass a criminal history check, which they are responsible to pay for, in qualifying to fill this position. The incumbent must be able to work with and supervise inmates. Journeyman Electrician

Core Responsibilities • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, wiring, equipment, and fixtures in accordance with relevant codes and safety standards (e.g., NEC). • Inspect electrical components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustments or repairs. • Troubleshoot electrical problems using test devices, diagrams, and blueprints. • Ensure compatibility and safety of system components through testing and evaluation. • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams. Installation & Maintenance • Plan and layout electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on job specifications. • Run conduit, pull wire, and install circuit breakers, panels, transformers, and other control devices. • Maintain electrical systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with regulations. • Install and repair lighting systems, outlets, and switches. Safety & Compliance • Adhere strictly to OSHA and company safety policies. • Use proper PPE and maintain a safe work environment. • Ensure all installations comply with local, state, and national electrical codes. Teamwork & Communication • Supervise and mentor apprentices or helpers as needed. • Communicate with project managers, clients, and other trades to coordinate work. • Document work performed and maintain accurate maintenance and installation records. Qualifications • Journeyman Electrician License Issued by: State or local licensing board (e.g., Nevada State Contractors Board, California Department of Industrial Relations).Valid Journeyman Electrician License. • Strong knowledge of electrical theory, NEC, and blueprint reading. • Ability to work independently or as part of a team. • Physical stamina for lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
