Objective/Purpose The individual will have knowledge of commercial construction and remodeling practices as well as a comprehensive understanding of procedures, techniques, tools, equipment materials and safety requirements associated with carpentry. Roles/Responsibilities • Assisting the Superintendent ensuring that a safe workplace remains the top priority by supporting policies, procedures, and practices. Notify the Superintendent of any and all safety hazards. • Read blueprints, utilize appropriate math skills and perform layout. • Maintain a clean and orderly project. • Maintain a working relationship with Trade Partners. • Adhere to STI’s Drug, Alcohol, and Harassment policies. • Install ICRA dust partitions. • Build safety provisions, including but not limited to: Scaffolding, Perimeter railings for Fall Protection, Temporary hole covers, ladders etc. • Perform various types of demolition. • Metal Stud Framing, hanging drywall, and finishing drywall. • Install Acoustical Ceilings. • Install Division 10 items. • Understanding of Doors/Hardware. • Safely operates equipment such as bobcat and all terrain telescoping forklift. • Use different types of carpentry tools safely and in the correct application. • Take off material quantities accurately. Skills Required • OSHA 30 Hour • High School Diploma or equivalent • Ability to read, analyze & interpret plans. • Effectively communicate and understand both verbal and written instructions. • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Frequent carrying, climbing, kneeling, and reaching. • Firm grasping is used when moving and lifting materials and when operating hand and power tools. • Work will be performed in a combination of indoor and outdoor activities. • First Aid/CPR Certified • Reliable transportation • Knowledge of safety regulations for building sites. • 2+ years of framing, drywall hanging and finishing experience. Skills Preferred • 5 years of construction experience specializing in the federal and/or healthcare sector. • Understanding of STARC wall panel system for ICRA.Mental Qualifications • Able to learn new tasks • Able to maintain focus • Able to complete assigned tasks without direct supervision • Able to communicate effectively, both orally and written • Able to interact with a variety of individuals • Able to understand, remember, and follow verbal and written instructions • Able to perform in situations requiring speed, deadlines, or productivity quotas. • Able to maintain regular attendance and be punctual • Have strong reading comprehension • Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned Physical Qualifications • Able to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps. etc. • Able to utilize construction personnel hoists • Able to navigate work areas that are under construction • Specific vision abilities required for this job include vision, peripheral, depth perception, and focus • Repeating motions that may include wrist, hands, and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, and • controls • Operate motor vehicle or heavy equipment • Communicate with others to exchange information • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing for long periods of time • Ability to climb, maintain balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl • Light to medium work that includes moving objects between 20-50 pounds Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud. The proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) will be required when exposed to the above conditions in accordance with OSHA and/or EM-285 safety provisions. Terms and Conditions Exemption Status: Non-Exempt Hourly Wage. Typically, 40-hour work week but the role may require occasional overtime with overtime payrate. Travel is required within the United States; this role is job site based. Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours, but there are occasions where weekend/night work is required due to contract requirements and/or logistical reasons.
