JOB SUMMARY: This position exists to construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, and wallboard [drywall] conforming to local building codes ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Examine blueprints, sketches, or building plans to articulate the specific types of material required and dimensions to be fabricated • Prepares layout and mark the cutting and assembly lines on materials • Assemble, cut, and shape materials to fasten together with nails, dowel pins, glue and/or screws • Verifies trueness of structure with plumb bob, carpenter level and/or square • Erects framework for structures • Installs partitions and cabinet work, covers subfloor, and applies paneling to ceiling and walls • Fit and install window frames, doors, door frames, weather stripping, trim, hardware, etc. • Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level • Performs other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: Work Experience: 1-3 years of carpentry experience Education: High School Diploma / GED or equivalent Related Experience: • General math skills • Proficient with hand and power tools • Ability to read a tape measure • Attention to detail • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks; keep up in a fast-paced environment • Knowledge of general construction • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee sometimes works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, and heights. When participating in activities on the shop floor, the noise level in the work environment is typical for a fabrication shop and ear plugs may be used as necessary.
