JOB SUMMARY: This position exists to construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, and wallboard [drywall] conforming to local building codes ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Examine blueprints, sketches, or building plans to articulate the specific types of material required and dimensions to be fabricated • Prepares layout and mark the cutting and assembly lines on materials • Assemble, cut, and shape materials to fasten together with nails, dowel pins, glue and/or screws • Verifies trueness of structure with plumb bob, carpenter level and/or square • Erects framework for structures • Installs partitions and cabinet work, covers subfloor, and applies paneling to ceiling and walls • Fit and install window frames, doors, door frames, weather stripping, trim, hardware, etc. • Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level • Performs other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: Work Experience: 1-3 years of carpentry experience Education: High School Diploma / GED or equivalent Related Experience: • General math skills • Proficient with hand and power tools • Ability to read a tape measure • Attention to detail • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks; keep up in a fast-paced environment • Knowledge of general construction • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee sometimes works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, and heights.
