Carpenter - Shreveport / Bossier City Area

Opportunity available for an experienced concrete form carpenter. This individual must observe all Boh Bros. safety protocols and be drug-free. Must have consistent and reliable transportation to and from job site, located in the Shreveport / Bossier City area. Duties include but are not limited to building and manipulating large wooden concrete forms, large concrete steel forms, boards, planks, and plywood, cutting materials, hauling materials, hand grinding, checking string lines, preparation for concrete placement and dismantling after concrete placement, housekeeping at job site, checking safety protocol, beginning of shift set-up and end of shift clean-up, etc. Must be able to work in a team setting with other craft workers engaged in heavy construction activities. Ability to work outdoors in extreme conditions, cold, heat, humidity, on rough terrain, frequently at heights and in excavations, able to work at various job sites and locations assigned, able to read a tape measure, and understand directions. Also may be exposed to hazards associated with but not limited to dust, odors, fumes, noise, and vibration hazards. Able to work with various types of hand tools such as drills, power saws, hammers, and wrenches. Must have experience in the road or industrial construction field, working outdoors in extreme weather conditions, able to read blueprints, perform simple mathematical equations, read a tape measure, and understand directions. Some knowledge of rigging and crane signaling required. Must be devoted and reliable. Boh Bros. is a union contractor. All wages and benefits are determined by the union agreement. All new hires will be paid 90% of the journeyman scale for the first 300 hours of employment.

Order new materials as needed and keep track of inventory levels. Qualifications • Skills: Proficiency with various saws, including miter saws and table saws. Skilled in trim carpentry techniques and frame assembly. Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity. Very good with tape measuring. • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy materials, stand for extended periods, and perform tasks requiring manual strength and precision. • Experience: Experience in carpentry and woodworking, with a background in saw operation and trim carpentry. Scope and Purpose: A carpenter’s helper is defined as an entry level craftsman, able to perform basic carpentry skills. Duties and responsibilities: • Basic knowledge of residential and commercial construction practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, and materials. • Minimal ability to read blueprints. • Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to take and compute measurements. • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions. • Ability to read a tale measure accurately • Ability to organize assigned tasks, for completion alone or with help. • experience working with electrical, battery, and air powered tools. • Able to tell when to ask for help. • Must follow all safety procedures. Physical Requirements: Job requires the ability to perform tasks in all areas and aspects of the construction project. The employee is regularly required to walk, climb or balance, stop, kneel or crouch. Prolonged standing, climbing, bending and kneeling often are necessary. The employee will be required to climb ladders and work on scaffolds for heights of up to 60 feet. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 25-50 pounds, up to 100 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Experience/Education: • High School Education or equivalent. • Minimum of 2- year experience in carpentry work. • Good verbal communication skills required.
