Position Summary As our Carpenter Leadman, you will lay the groundwork for Jackson's self-perform carpentry efforts, taking ownership of essential field tasks—especially door and hardware installation—while setting a high standard of quality, safety, and accountability. We'll count on you to lead by example in the field, communicate proactively with superintendents, and help define how Jackson delivers self-perform work moving forward. In this foundational role, you'll need technical skill, a self-starting attitude, and the ability to coach and collaborate as we grow this capability together. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Field Leadership • Execute rough and finish carpentry tasks, including door and hardware installation, with precision and professionalism. • Serve as the model for quality and accountability in Jackson's self-perform carpentry work. • Maintain a clean, organized work area and resolve field issues promptly to minimize delays or rework. Safety Oversight • Enforce and uphold Jackson's safety protocols on the jobsite. • Maintain compliance with safety standards and proactively address field hazards to foster a zero-incident environment. Door and Hardware Installation • Hang doors, install hardware, and troubleshoot alignment or installation issues in accordance with specifications. • Demonstrate high-level craftsmanship and attention to detail. Coordination and Communication • Partner with superintendents to align daily priorities, identify needed tools and materials, and support schedule compliance. • Communicate proactively to resolve challenges that could impact field execution. Mentorship and Training • Provide guidance and coaching to laborers or junior carpenters. • Support the development of field skills, work habits, and reliability among less experienced team members. Professional Representation • Interact respectfully with co-workers and trade partners. • Deliver work that reflects Jackson's commitment to quality, integrity, and lasting client relationships. Qualifications • Commercial carpentry experience, with demonstrated expertise in door and hardware installation. • Proven ability to lead field activities and mentor junior team members. • Strong knowledge of building codes, safety standards, and construction practices. • Proficiency with hand and power tools customary to carpentry. • Reliable, proactive, and able to adapt to evolving project demands. Essential Functions You must be able to twist, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders frequently, with the ability to walk on uneven ground and work above ground on scaffolds. Standing for up to seven hours during an eight-hour shift is also expected. Requires the ability to maintain balance on uneven surfaces and scaffolding at various heights, ensuring safety in all work conditions. Good finger manipulation is essential to handle tools effectively and operate equipment. Team members must be able to carry and use hand tools, climb on both light and heavy equipment, and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance required for heavier items. Must have depth perception to navigate safely around hazards, and the ability to hear horns and sirens on moving equipment. Outdoor work in temperatures from 25 to 115 degrees Fahrenheit is also required.
