Craftsmen Contractors is hiring Assembly Technicians with carpentry experience for a manufacturing facility in Minden, La. The project consists of helping construct data centers for call centers. Work schedule : day shifts Monday through Friday and sometimes every other Saturday. Needing workers who have some carpentry experience / background - at least 1 year. Pay is $15.40 - $21.45 / hr. depending on experience. No per diem is offered. Job Duties : • Assist in reading blueprints to determine placement of carpentry components in building. • Assist in cutting wall paneling and other carpentry components with various saws. • Apply glue to plywood for wall installs and per floor specifications. • Install various other wall and ceiling paneling with glues and fasteners using hand and power tools • Hang molding and related trim materials to interior of building with fasteners and hand or power tools. • Perform other tasks as assigned by crew leader or supervisor. • Ensure that work area and buildings are clean and free of debris. Job Requirements : • Work from a ladder and stand for long periods of time • Ability to stoop, crouch, and kneel to apply paneling and to work overhead. • Have experience using various hand and power tools. • Lift up to 50 lbs. when moving materials on the job. • Clear vision and ability to determine and distinguish color. • Read blueprints and read a tape measure. • Communicate effectively, have good judgment and attention to detail. • Ability to read, comprehend and assimilate information. • Ability to maintain satisfactory working relationships and interact effectively with all levels of employees. • High school diploma or GED required. • 1 year of carpentry experience required. • Will need to pass a criminal background check, drug screen and must do a face to face interview before being hired. See More Details >>About the position Responsibilities • Construct and repair buildings, grounds, and infrastructure. • Perform trim carpentry work including molding, trim, door and window casings, and baseboards. • Assist with masonry, plumbing, painting, and electrical work orders and projects. • Determine scope of work, materials, labor, and equipment from verbal orders or work orders. • Develop bills of materials and acquire material quotes. • Perform preventive maintenance checks and services on tools and equipment. • Supervise inmate work crews and temporary detailed employees. • Maintain accountability for hand receipted tools and equipment. • Attend scheduled safety meetings and training classes assigned by supervisor. • Be accessible after normal duty hours, weekends, and holidays as required. Requirements • Proficient in the use of equipment and tools such as forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, generators, and various saws. • Ability to perform trim carpentry work and various types of construction repairs. • Ability to read and understand blueprints and shop drawings. • Valid Driver's License, Social Security Card, and Birth Certificate required. • Must qualify to obtain a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC). • Ability to work and communicate effectively with agency personnel and the public. Nice-to-haves • Experience with construction of building foundations and placement of forms, trusses, and structural assemblies. • Familiarity with operating trucks, trailers, forklifts, and small excavators.
