Requirements • Experience as a carpenter, particularly in bridge construction. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. • Proficiency in using various carpentry tools and equipment. • Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations in construction. Responsibilities Craftsmanship -Install and finish fine woodwork, including cabinetry, trim, molding, and custom features, ensuring flawless results. -Perform precise carpentry tasks, such as fitting doors, staircases, and intricate millwork, with attention to detail. -Apply stains, lacquers, and other finishes to achieve high-end, polished outcomes. -Conduct quality checks to ensure work meets project specifications and JM Construction’s standards. Teamwork & Leadership -Collaborate with a team of 1-2 carpenters, fostering a positive, cooperative work environment. -Train and mentor junior carpenters on fine finish techniques, safety protocols, and best practices, ensuring skill development and quality standards. -Coordinate with project managers and other trades to ensure seamless project execution. Safety & Compliance -Maintain tools, equipment, and job site cleanliness per OSHA and company standards. -Adhere to California safety regulations (Cal/OSHA, Title 8), including training for hazardous materials (e.g., lead safety, silica dust) and fall protection. -Use appropriate PPE for carpentry and finishing tasks. Qualifications -5+ years of professional finish carpentry experience, specializing in fine finishes for custom homes and commercial projects. -2+ years of experience working in or leading small teams (1-2 carpenters), with proven ability to train others. -Expertise in installing cabinetry, trim, molding, and applying stains/lacquers. -Strong knowledge of carpentry tools, materials, and safety practices. -Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record (company vehicle provided). -Ability to read and interpret blueprints and project specifications. -Professional appearance, strong work ethic, and positive, team-oriented attitude. -Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in various conditions. -Preferred: Bilingual in English and Spanish for effective team communication and training.
