Job Summary The Construction Framer is responsible for constructing and assembling the structural framework of buildings, ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance with project plans and specifications. Position Responsibilities and Duties • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine framing requirements. • Measure, cut, and shape wood, metal, or other materials to build structural components such as walls, floors, and roofs. • Assemble and install framing components, ensuring structural integrity and alignment. • Install supports, bracing, and blocking to reinforce structures as needed. • Collaborate with construction superintendents and other trades to coordinate work and maintain project schedules. • Ensure all framing work complies with building codes, safety regulations, and project specifications. • Operate hand and power tools, including saws, drills, and nail guns, in a safe and efficient manner. • Perform layout work, including marking and measuring for accurate placement of framing components. • Assist in setting up scaffolding, ladders, and other access equipment as required. • Inspect materials for quality and report any defects or shortages to supervisors. • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols. • Assist with material handling, including unloading and staging lumber and other supplies. • Participate in job site safety meetings and follow all OSHA and company safety guidelines. • Perform minor repairs or adjustments to framing as directed by supervisors. • Complete additional tasks as assigned to support project completion. Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in carpentry or framing preferred. • Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction framing or related carpentry work. • Ability to read and understand construction blueprints and drawings. • Proficiency in using hand and power tools commonly used in framing (e.g., circular saws, framing nailers). • Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and building codes. • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform precise measurements and cuts. • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials and work in various weather conditions. • Basic math skills for calculating measurements and material quantities. • Familiarity with safety practices and OSHA regulations in construction environments. • Preferred experience with construction software or tools like Bluebeam for reviewing plans. • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites. • Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
