Job Summary: Assists in tasks associated with bridge construction requiring knowledge of bridge, box culvert, drainage structure, and general concrete construction. Concrete Carpenter/Finisher (Project Site in Oglala, SD)

ABOUT THE JOB The Tepa Companies are seeking a Concrete Carpenter/Finisher to perform many tasks that require physical labor on construction sites in all types of weather. This role executes projects that require demolition of existing concrete structures, over-excavating native soils for sub-grade prep, and compaction. In addition, the Concrete Carpenter/Finisher will assist other craft workers when required as well. Job Functions: • Assist Foremen in layout and set elevations for new formwork, place and tie structural reinforcement, execute readiness for concrete placements to include footings and foundations, ADA compliant walkways, flatwork in commercial settings and structural concrete. • Operate hand and power tools of all types: Demo Saws, pneumatic Jack hammers, heavy duty core drills, Rebar bender/Cutter, Electric saws, drills, misc. hand tools, surveying and measuring equipment, small equipment and skid steer loaders, finish tools for concrete placement to include vibratory roller screed, vibratory truss screed, manual wet screed, vibratory concrete consolidation tools and a variety of finish tools to include walk-behind trowels. • Read and understand construction blueprints. • Assist in scaffolding erection and bracing. • Help prep and clean construction site. • Signal Equipment Operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of equipment. • Load, transport, and unload forming materials, tools, and supplies. • Restock worksite supplies and materials as necessary. • Identify and follow safe working procedures. • Identifies and stops unsafe work practices that present imminent danger to themselves and others. • Responsibilities as assigned, including, but not limited to: Layout, read and understand grade stations/stakes, curb/gutter, flat work, structural/retaining walls, operate skid steer. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR • 5+ years of concrete construction experience or knowledge required • Experience using a variety of hand, pneumatic, electric, and motor-powered tools and equipment • Some experience operating heavy equipment preferred, but not required • Ability to climb ladders and/or operate manlifts • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds • Ability to use power and hand tools, materials, and other equipment used on construction sites • Knowledge of excavation and backfilling methods, practices, and procedures preferred, but not required • Knowledge of safety practices and procedures specific to labor work, including OSHA standards • Ability to work effectively with a team • Ability to communicate clearly • Ability to listen to and understand information and direction both verbally and in writing • Ability to learn on the job • Demonstrate willingness to take on job challenges • Demonstrate energy and stamina to accomplish work tasks • Demonstrate reliability, responsibility, and dependability • Demonstrate careful attention to detail and thoroughness • Must pass the required background check and drug screen • Must possess a valid driver’s license • Ability to gain access to military installations and facilities, if applicable • Ability to work overtime and some weekends as required Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans.
