Construction Worker - Carpenter

Morton Buildings is looking to expand our construction crews and employee owners! Morton Buildings, Inc. is the industry leader in post-frame construction. New crew members receive an additional $500 bonus every quarter during their first year of employment with Morton Buildings. These bonuses are subject to all applicable withholding taxes. Under the guidance of your crew foreman you will: • Learn, keep current with and apply the Morton Buildings' safety and construction procedures, methods, and standards • Read, understand and build according to construction plans • Utilize various tools and equipment to safely and efficiently construct buildings • Efficiently execute tasks such as: digging and installing footings, framing walls and roof structures, installing windows, entry and other doors and door openings, installing various siding and roofing materials including hi-rib steel, shingles, wood and other siding materials and mortarless masonry units, finishing with metal and wood trims • Work with other crew personnel in a safe, organized, productive and enjoyable work environment treating everyone with dignity and respect QUALIFICATIONS • Building construction (post-frame), carpentry or framing experience preferred (on the job or in school) • Willingness to participate in and complete a training program • A valid driver’s license is preferred • Available to work 9-10 hours during peak construction season. • Ability to take direction • Produce quality work in an efficient manner • Agree to comply with all our safety processes and procedures • Willingness to maintain and operate construction tools in a safe and proper manner • Ability to operate specialized safety equipment efficiently and effectively • Standard weight lifting requirements - 50 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 100 pounds • Capable of working in a physically demanding environment and at various heights (up to 40 feet) • Possess good communication skills - both written and verbal • This position requires 25% travel (based on 52 weeks), which includes overnight travel possibly up to two weeks at a time. Description Job Summary: As a Carpenter I, you’ll play a hands-on role in bringing projects to life — building, installing, and finishing with precision and pride. From framing and formwork to detailed trim and repairs, you’ll tackle a variety of carpentry tasks that keep projects moving forward. This role is all about craftsmanship, problem-solving, and teamwork to help deliver safe, high-quality construction results. Key Responsibilities: • Perform rough carpentry, including framing and blocking installation. • Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood and other materials. • Safely operate and maintain hand and power tools. • Maintain a clean, organized, and OSHA-compliant worksite. • Support other crews and complete additional tasks as assigned. • Lead and mentor new carpenters or laborers. • Can take direction and perform certain tasks independently. Requirements Education and Experience: • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. • Additional vocational or technical training in carpentry is preferred. • 1+ years of practical experience in carpentry, with a proven track record of successful project completion, is required. Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: • Follow OSHA and Hutton safety protocols at all times. • Ability to work independently and in a team, meeting project deadlines. • Help perform precise measurements, complex layouts, and detailed repetitive tasks. • Safely operate carpentry tools and equipment (saws, nail guns, lasers, drills, planers, sanders, etc.). • Maintain high-quality standards in all carpentry work. Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project plans. • Safety/ Equipment certification. • Bilingual • Understanding of general commercial construction build sequence. Work Environment: • You will work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. • Work may require night shift/travel. • Job site could be noisy or dusty. Physical Requirements: • Able to do the following with or without reasonable accommodation: • Lift, push or pull materials weighing up to 80 lbs.
