Job Overview We are looking to hire an additional lead carpenter that will help to implement our new build, exterior, and insurance projects. This candidate will be looked to as a leader - ready to lead a job-site and coach & teach the other carpenters on site. Primary Function This IC Journeyman Carpenter-IP position's primary job function is to provide Carpentry, Painting and Insulation work for the Ludington plant site. Essential Functions Functions that must be performed in order to fulfill Primary Function stated above include: • Operating both the fixed sandblast equipment in 94L Bldg as well as the mobile sandblast unit. Prepare surfaces to accept paint following the applicable Oxy Paint Specification. • Review, ensure understanding, and sign off yearly on the Oxy Chem common paint specifications used at the Ludington Site. • Review yearly and document paint stocked for content and expiration dates. Properly dispose of outdated coatings. • Painting with latex, epoxy, and oil-based paints inside the paint building (103L) as well as in the plant. • Work with fiberglass to repair and make fiberglass pipe and equipment joints. • Filter changes in the paint building and sandblast building. • Repair and build doors, windows, ceilings, walls, cabinets, paneling, small buildings, etc. with wood using the typical carpentry tools of a hammer, drill, various saws, various measuring devices, etc., as well as floor mounted saws and planers in the carpenter shop. • Perform minor interior space renovations, including rough carpentry, finish carpentry, and furnishings. • Perform visual inspection of building roof systems and identify corrective repairs. • Erect scaffolding for maintenance and repair jobs as needed. • Make the forms and pour concrete for bases and foundations. Lay concrete block walls. • Read prints and specifications to be able to perform the job. • Utilize the maintenance work process to complete work. Provide daily job progress to scheduler and routine feedback to planner to ensure efficiency and continuous improvement. • Document work order history and job details performed. • Learn, own, follow, and occasionally create and update applicable procedures to ensure that all jobs are completed in a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible manner. • Occasionally create or update procedures to ensure accuracy. • Responsible for knowledge and use of all area and job specific safety equipment. • Perform daily housekeeping and OTS activities and OTS documentation in order to maintain a safe and environmentally sound workplace. • Assist with training of new employees. • Complete all training requirements as determined by site needs. • Industrial Craftsman (IC) role - Perform other non-Carpenter maintenance work you are trained for and can execute safely. • Actively support and participate in programs to continuously improve plant operations through problem‑solving teams, etc. • Actively support plant and corporate HESS safety programs, objectives, and expectations. • Follows the Ludington Guiding Principles. • Must be able to work with others in a self‑directed workforce environment.
