We are looking for a capable and skilled carpenter to join our team. NBI specializes in high-end remodeling - transforming homes with craftsmanship and care. We are seeking a lead carpenter who is as passionate about teaching and mentoring as they are about fine craftsmanship. This is a leadership role for someone who thrives in the high-end remodel environment, maintains impeccable standards, and takes pride in developing the next generation of skilled carpenters. You'll oversee daily site operations, guide other carpenters, and ensure that each project meets our high standards for quality, performance, and client experience. This is posted as a full-time position, but we are open to entertaining it as a part-time position. Compensation: $30 - $38 hourly Responsibilities: • Lead daily operations on-site for high-end residential remodeling projects, ensuring craftsmanship, quality, and efficiency. • Mentor and train newer carpenters — teaching techniques, modeling professionalism, and fostering a culture of learning. • Apply a strong understanding of building science principles to every phase of the remodel — moisture management, air sealing, insulation, and system integration. • Plan and sequence work to align with project schedules and budgets while maintaining attention to fine detail. • Coordinate with designers, project managers, and homeowners to ensure clarity and excellence in communication. • Prioritize in-person and phone communication — building relationships through conversation, not just messages. • Maintain a meticulously organized, safe, and professional jobsite. • Write clear job logs, material lists, and progress updates with attention to detail and tone. Qualifications: • 7+ years of professional carpentry experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or lead carpenter role within high-end residential remodeling. • Proven ability to train, coach, and inspire developing carpenters and apprentices. • Strong understanding of building science and how it applies to remodels in existing structures. • Exceptional communication and leadership skills — personable, articulate, and approachable. • High level of craftsmanship with a commitment to precision, finish quality, and client satisfaction. • Organized, schedule-driven, and detail-oriented. • Excellent written communication for documentation and reporting. • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Summary of Position: The Carpenter will build, erect, install, and repair forms, structures, and other fixtures made from wood and other materials as needed to assist with various types of construction projects. Responsibilities: • Measures, marks, and arranges materials to established layout based on blueprints or instructions from supervisors. • Cuts and shapes structures, forms, or other fixtures from wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall. • Uses various hand and power tools to securely build assigned projects. • Joins materials with the most appropriate nail, screw, staple, or adhesive. • Ensures the accuracy of work by checking completed projects with tools such as levels, surveying equipment, or framing squares; corrects problems as needed. • Creates wooden forms for pouring concrete or for tunnels, bridges, or sewer construction projects. • Erects and dismantles scaffolding. • Installs windows and doors. • Adheres to local building and safety codes and guidelines. • Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities: • Ability to understand directions and read blueprints. • Ability to solve mathematical problems quickly and accurately. • Ability to properly care for and use tools of the trade. • Thorough understanding of carpentry principles and methods. • Works well as part of a team. Education and Experience: • Successful completion of vocational school or technical college or apprenticeship program; OR at least three years of experience via on-the-job training required. Physical Requirements: • Prolonged periods standing, climbing, bending, and kneeling. • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time. • Must be able to safely work with sharp tools or power equipment. • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains. • Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination.
