Description Job Summary The Maintenance Carpenter constructs and repairs structural woodwork and equipment in the establishment. They work under the direction of the Director of Plant Operations and members of the facilities management team directing various activities of construction projects. Builds, installs, or repairs structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, wallboard, and various other materials in a manner conforming to local building codes. Assist with facilities management team with preventative maintenance and repairs on HVAC equipment, building automation systems, steam boilers, water softeners, fire alarm systems, Complies with all AGH policies and procedures and adheres to AGH standards. • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • • As a Carpenter you will perform carpentry duties including constructing and repairing within hospital sites. • Builds, repairs, and installs all counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, code base, ceilings, hardware, building framework and trim. • uses carpenter’s hand tools using proper safety procedures; works from blueprint, drawings or oral instructions. • Installs glass in windows, doors, and partitions. • Safely demolishes walls, ceilings, cabinets and miscellaneous items promptly. • Diligently maintains all tools and equipment in clean, safe, and working order. • Maintains adequate inventory of supplies and materials on each project to ensure maximum productivity • Maintain records as required by regulations and policy. • Climbs ladders to replace damaged ceiling tiles, replaces floor tile and sheet plastic wall coverings. • Fine finishes items using sand papering techniques. • May assist with on-the-job instructions for less experienced carpenters in current carpentry techniques. • Performs manual duties as requested (i.e. moving supplies or furniture, removing trash or scrap metal.) • Assist with preventative maintenance duties to all physical structures of the facility and comply with all building safety codes. This is to include facility equipment and associated building automation controls. • Assist in minor electrical work with direct supervision of the lead electrician. • Assist with boiler water analyses and water treatment for safe operation. • Maintain all light fixtures in good working condition and change light bulbs as needed. • Assist with repairs of all mechanical/electrical HVAC equipment with direct supervision of the lead HVAC technician.
