Posting Details Position Information Position Title Carpenter Job Responsibilities Reports directly to the Building Trades Supervisor and is responsible for all types of interior and exterior carpentry and masonry work on campus. Also includes oversight of part-time student workers. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Install and repair doors, windows, roofing, walls, ceilings, flooring, modular furniture and other related structural and architectural items. 2. Perform concrete installation work, including forms, reinforcing steel, placement and finishing, and repairs including removal and patching. 3. Perform masonry work, including installation, repair and tuck-pointing for structural and architectural brick and block. 4. Assist in stage and tent set-up for special events. 5. Complete work order documentation upon completion of work. 6. Initiate requests for necessary parts and supplies. 7. Maintain orderly storage of tools, materials and equipment; clean shop areas as needed. 8. Be available for emergency night calls. 9. Be available for overtime and weekend scheduled events. 10. Schedule and oversee work of assigned part-time student employees. 11. Assume all other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Building Trades Supervisor, including some maintenance duties outside of specialty. Persons in the position must be able to lift 50 pounds; must have the ability to read and understand product instructions and cautions, work orders and work safety procedures; have the ability to use hand and power carpentry tools; have the ability to climb ladders; have the ability to understand and follow instructions given by the Supervisor; and have the ability to communicate using a portable radio. Required Qualifications Required qualifications include a work history showing dependability; strong work ethic; the ability to obtain a valid driver’s license; and at least 3 years professional carpentry work experience.
