Overview We are seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in various aspects of carpentry, including construction site work, remodeling, and restoration projects. The Carpenter will be responsible for building, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials. Duties • Construct, install, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, and wallboard. • Perform remodeling tasks including door hanging and tile laying. • Assess and repair water damage in residential or commercial properties. • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety regulations and building codes. • Utilize hand tools and power tools effectively to complete projects. • Collaborate with other tradespeople on construction sites to ensure project timelines are met. • Maintain a clean and organized work environment at all times. PURPOSE: Licensed carpenter skilled in performing tasks in accordance with standard practices and codes on a variety of building components throughout the District. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: identifying repair and/or replacement needs; installing, repairing, and/or upgrading building components in accordance with building codes; ensuring completion of projects and work orders in a timely manner with minimal supervision; assisting other skilled trades; maintaining District tools and equipment in an acceptable manner. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Installs, repairs and/or replaces and otherwise maintains District facilities (doors, windows, walls, select cabinetry, marker and tack boards, toilet partitions, ceiling grid, concrete, ramps, landings, stairs, etc.) in a timely manner to minimize disruptions. • Operates and maintains a variety of hand tools (saws, drills, nailers, etc.) and equipment used in carpentry trade to accomplish tasks as assigned. • Analyzes blue prints, schematics, and drawings and layout new construction. • Estimates materials, labor, and/or equipment needed to complete assigned work for the purpose of obtaining necessary materials, time necessary and communicating needs with supervisor. • Assist other trades in tasks as necessary. • Obtains bids from contractors, if necessary, for select work and provides oversight of construction projects. • Responds to emergency situations during and after hours in order to resolve immediate safety concerns and minimize disruptions. • Maintain District resources (truck, tools, equipment etc.) in a serviceable and orderly fashion. • Assist with snow removal, which may occur outside normal working hours. • Other duties as assigned including but not limited to: moving furniture, chairs, risers and other District resources as requested. OTHER FUNCTIONS: • Loads, transports and unloads a variety of furniture, supplies, copy paper and equipment within schools and/or school district. • Orders, repairs, and replaces playground equipment, rubber tiles, swing chains, etc. to maintain playgrounds in safe condition for students. • Delivers and spreads mulch at playgrounds to maintain proper mulch depth. • Assembles/disassembles a variety of furniture and equipment. • Periodically organizes remote warehouse space to verify quantities and ensure efficient material storage. • Daily coordination with supervisor and/or other trades as necessary to complete projects and work orders efficiently. • Participate in team meetings, and seminars as necessary to maintain certifications.Work from ladders and/or lifts to access elevated equipment.
