Class B CDL Heavy Equipment Operator

Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator/Class B CDL This is a vital role within our organization that requires the operation of heavy equipment in support of our public works department. • Equipment Operation: Operate a range of equipment including tractors, backhoes, bulldozers, motor graders, excavators, front-end loaders, flushers, augers, etc. • Vehicle Maintenance: Maintain assigned vehicles and equipment, performing pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections. • Transportation: Transport materials to and from work sites. • Traffic Control: Flag traffic and install traffic control devices at work sites. • Crew Management: Direct the work of an assigned crew of personnel in the field, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines. The supervisor conducts regular spot-checks to ensure compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results. Qualifications and Skills Required • Knowledge of techniques, equipment, and supplies used in maintenance and construction operations. • Knowledge of city and departmental safety policies and procedures. • Geography Knowledge: Familiarity with city geography, including street names and locations. • Operating Skills: Skill in operating assigned vehicles, trucks, and heavy equipment. • Problem Analysis: Ability to analyze problems and develop effective solutions. A valid driver's license and a valid Class B commercial driver's license are mandatory requirements for this role. The successful candidate must have a strong understanding of maintenance and construction operations, as well as excellent problem-solving skills.
