(This description may not include all duties required of this position) • Build rough wooden structures, such as vertical and horizontal concrete forms, gang forms, blocking, Johnny clamp forms, scaffolds, tunnel, bridge, or sewer supports, billboard signs, and temporary frame shelters, according to sketches, blueprints, or oral instructions • Must adhere to safety protocol, and work in a drug-free environment • Must be able to provide own tools including, but not limited to, hammer, speed square, tape measure, chalk box, pliers, and tool pouch. • May be required to work in outside all weather conditions Education - Skills - Knowledge - Qualifications & Experience • 3 years Commercial Construction Carpenter experience preferred. See More Details >>Tooling/Fairing Carpenter Under the guidance of the Department Supervisor and Engineering, this position requires the ability to construct full scale wood mockups of boats parts and sections for use as guide in shaping or positioning of fiberglass boat parts. May construct wooden plugs for molded parts, such as hulls, decks, cabins and other parts for fiberglass boats. POWER EQUIPMENT OPERATION required while performing job: • Saws, Sanders, Drills, Routers, others as required Education and Experience Requirements: · To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. · Should possess 5 or more years’ experience in the field of carpentry · Knowledge of adhesives, solvents and other required chemicals. · Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved with finish carpentry. · Know basic measuring tools used by field craftsmen and identify various widths and lengths of lumber. Attach parts and subassemblies together to form complete units, using glue, dowels, nails, screws, or clamps. · Cut materials to the right size and shape and trim parts of joints to ensure a snug fit, using hand tools such as planes, chisels, or wood files. · Trim, Sand, and scrape surfaces and joints to prepare articles for finish. · Dip, brush, or spray assembled articles with protective or decorative finishes. · Install Hardware such as hinges, handles, catches, and drawer pulls. · Match materials for color, grain, and texture. · Read a ruler to the nearest one-sixteenth of an inch. Be familiar with basic addition, subtraction, division and multiplication of whole numbers and fractions. Be able to measure with accuracy Open to change and considerable variety in the workplace. · Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
