Job Description Summary/Objective We recruit highly skilled individuals for a variety of disciplines in the construction field. A skilled craft worker is an essential cog in the wheel of any Superior Construction project. Qualified applicants will have experience working on Heavy Civil, Roadway or Bridge Projects. Applicant must be familiar with working from heights and/or Manlifts. Your role within the company will include participation in site safety, protection of the environment, and construction of exciting and challenging projects. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Use of power and/or hand tools too; construct and set forms to grade, install overhang brackets, build handrails & remove/clean forms after placement of concrete. • Erect both Metal and Wood forms. • Assists with concrete pours for various structures including, Pier Footings, Columns, Caps and Bridge Decks. • Ability to Interpret blueprints, sketches, or plans to construct forms in preparation of Cast in Place (CIP) Concrete. • Must have proper knowledge of using and maintaining any type of power equipment required to fulfill job • Understand and comply with all Company Safety policies and procedures as well as OSHA Regulations. • Properly secure and store all tools, equipment, and materials at the end of each work day Other • Understand and comply with all Company Safety policies and procedures as well as OSHA Regulations. • Assists with loading and unloading trucks & deliveries. Work Environment This is a field base role. The employee will be working on heavy civil and highway construction sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, heat, humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt. Physical Demands The position lifts heavy objects, walks, and stands for long periods of time and performs physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects and uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multilimbed coordination. The employee must have excellent stamina. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. This position will occasionally require long hours and weekend work. Average +/-50 hours per week. Travel The role requires no travel. Required Education and Experience • Must adhere to OSHA safety protocol, and work in a drug-free environment. • Must be reliable/have reliable transportation. POSITION SUMMARY Under general supervision, perform normal craft-specific duties as required to support the fabrication, assembly, installation and/or repair of a variety of wood structures and furnishings in marine vessels. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: Because EasternShipbuilding is continually growing to meet the needs of our customers, the essential duties and responsibilities may be different than described. • Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends and holidays. • Comply with company, Federal, State, and local safety, ethics, and environmental rules, regulations and policies while performing duties. • Assist in the construction of floors, doors, and partitions, using woodworking machines, hand tools, and power tools. • Assist in the installation of permanent and temporary ladders and handrails. • Assist in the installation of sound dampening and ballasting materials. • Assist in the placing of blocking material for vessel blocking. • Assist in the layout and alignment of material in accordance with specifications. • Under supervision, measure and cut materials to determine conformance to specifications. • May assist in the rigging and flagging of cranes using hand signals to move material safely to desired locations. • Accountable for completion of daily work assignments. • Perform other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position has no supervisory responsibilities. REQUIREMENTS Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalence plus six or more months carpentry experience desired. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Knowledge of materials, methods, and the appropriate tools to construct marine vessels. Knowledge of ship terminology, safety, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations desired. Skills: Ability to read and comprehend written, verbal, or diagram form. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form. Ability to read and understand blueprints. Knowledge of safe operation and use of hand and power tools. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to read a tape measure.
