MGC Contractors, Inc is looking for Concrete Laborers, Form setters, and Finishers to join our Utah Division in the Provo area. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES FOR CONCRETE LABORER • Spreads Concrete into forms using rake or shovel. • Mixes cement using hoe or concrete mixing machine. • Breaks up and repairs concrete surfaces using pneumatic tools. • Cleans work areas, machines, and equipment to maintain a clean and safe job site. • Fine grades soil on ground to achieve proper thickness of concrete. • Selects tools, equipment, and materials from storage and transports items to job sites to be used. • Any and all other duties assigned. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES FOR FORMSETTER • Erects built-in-place forms or assembles and installs prefabricated forms on construction site according to blueprint specifications using hand tools, plum rule, and level. • Inserts spreaders and tie rods between opposite faces of form to maintain specified dimensions. • Anchors and braces forms to fixed objects using nails, bolts, and anchor rods. • Saws lumber to blueprint dimensions using handsaw or power saw and nails lumber together to make form panels. • Any and all other duties assigned. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES FOR CONCRETE FINISHER • Signals concrete delivery to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete. • Moves discharge chute off truck to direct concrete into forms. • Spreads concrete into inaccessible sections of forms using rake or shovel. • Levels concrete to specified depth and workable consistency using hand-held screed and floats to bring water to surface and product soft tapping. • Smoothes and shapes surfaces of freshly poured concrete using straightedge and float or power screed. • Finishes concrete surfaces using power trowel or wets and rubs concrete with abrasive stone to impart finish. • Removes rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces using power grinder or chisel and hammer and patches holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound. • Molds expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge. • May sprinkle colored stone chips, powdered steel, or coloring powder on concrete to produce prescribed finish. • May produce rough concrete surface using broom. • May direct sub-grade work, mixing of concrete, and setting of forms. • May break up and repair old concrete surfaces using pneumatic tools. • Any and all other duties assigned. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT • This position operates at professional construction sites, requiring the ability to communicate verbally with others on site, in person and over the telephone. The ability to read printed materials, signs and directions. The stamina to maintain attention despite interruptions, ability to lift, push, pull, carry, handle or feel objects, supplies, tools, machinery and/or controls weighing up to 50 pounds and reach with hands and arms; climb stairs and/or ladders; balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift overhead, traverse around or otherwise position one's self around the required work and safety requirements to navigating and perform activities on various construction sites in a safe manner. The position requires working outside, frequently for long periods of time in all weather, including extreme hot and cold temperatures. While working, the employee might be exposed to various chemicals, vapors, pollutants, virus or other pathogens, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noises, moving vehicles or machines and dust/debris. POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK • This is a full-time position. Occasional overtime, weekend work may be required as job duties demand. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • High School Diploma or GED required. • Six (6) months to one (1) year of related experience preferred.
