This role offers the opportunity to showcase your leadership skills, manage a crew, and work on diverse projects, including framing, decks, siding, trim, concrete prep work (rebar and forming), excavation, site work, and custom closet installations. Key Responsibilities: • Lead and manage a team of carpenters, ensuring all team members are productive and efficient. • Execute a wide range of carpentry tasks, including framing, trim work, decking, siding, cabinetry, concrete prep work, excavation, and custom closet installations. • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to guide the project. • Maintain clear communication with project managers, subcontractors, and clients. • Conduct site measurements, layouts, and inspections to ensure project accuracy. • Monitor project schedules, ensuring deadlines are met without compromising quality. • Ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain a clean, organized job site. • Manage materials and tools effectively, coordinating orders and inventory as needed. • Address and resolve on-site challenges quickly to keep projects on track. • Provide training and mentorship to less experienced team members to build their skills. What We're Looking For: • 5 years of experience in custom home carpentry, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. • Proficiency in framing, trim work, siding, and other residential carpentry tasks. • Ability to manage and lead a crew effectively, fostering a positive work environment. • Strong understanding of construction processes, tools, and safety protocols. • Proven ability to read blueprints and specifications, translating them into quality results. • Experience working on high-end custom projects and interacting with discerning clients. • Detail-oriented, with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to challenges. • Reliable transportation and ownership of basic carpentry tools (larger tools provided). • Clean driving record is a must. • Strong physical ability to work on-site, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. • Familiarity with project management software and basic computer skills is a plus. • Exceptional communication and organizational skills. Master Carpenter - SOA Scene Shop (Part-Time, Variable Hour)

About the position Utah Valley University (UVU) seeks a part-time Master Carpenter for its School of the Arts, offering a dynamic opportunity to lead and inspire within a creative environment. Under the guidance of the Shop Supervisor(s) or Technical Director, the Master Carpenter will spearhead projects, ensuring the meticulous execution of tasks that support productions and maintenance. This role not only involves hands-on carpentry work but also the invaluable experience of training and mentoring part-time staff, student workers, and lab students.
