Carpenter/Laborer

Summary: Nomad Builders is a growing remodel, addition and custom home building company. We manage $2million to $3million in remodel projects from Ogden down to Draper and up into Park City. We perform all carpentry in house. This includes rough framing, finish carpentry, cabinetry installs, custom millwork, flooring installs, door installs etc. We keep a small team of 3-5 carpenters, leads, and apprentices. We are looking for an experienced carpenter. Ideally you have 3-10 years of experience in framing or finish carpentry and are eager to learn new skills as well. We are a team of friendly people who get along well and have a positive work environment. We will prioritize a good fit in our work culture just as much as we prioritize your experience and skill set. Nomad Builders prioritizes low energy and low waste builds. Our construction practices may be different than what you've done in the past because we use a Building Science based approach to all remodels, additions, and new construction. We will expect you to be flexible and learn new ways of doing old tricks. Responsibilities: • Above all, performing high quality residential construction work on a daily basis • Ensure you are on time to the job site you are requested to be at. • Provide your own transportation to job sites in the valley, or be able to communicate with other team members for carpooling. • Communicate with the Field Operations Manager (FOM) to discuss the status of labor and build a schedule for the following week. • Perform labor in varying weather conditions from the heat of summer to the cold of winter. Nomad Builders will provide you with everything they can to make the job more comfortable. • Understand the scope of every project. • Report any scope changes to the Project Manager or Construction Manager. • Be proficient in reading plans and using project management software (Buildertrend) to check the schedule, assign tasks, upload daily logs, find documents, and communicate with the PM. • Report materials needs to the FOM to ensure all materials are on site and ready for use. • Report any broken equipment to the FOM. • Make sure jobs stay organized and clean. • Report any subcontractors or vendors who aren't performing quality construction. • Communicate daily via our communication channels between employees. Requirements: Residential construction experience. • Strong organizational and communication skills. • Ability to shift back and forth between tasks and projects • Ability to tow and back a trailer • Knowledge of construction processes and terminology. • A smart phone to use company communication apps Job Offer: • Wage: $25-35/hr – 40 hours a week, pay determined based on experience of applicant. • Benefits: Health insurance group plan with $300/month covered by Nomad Builders. Preferred Qualifications: • Certification or formal training in carpentry or a related field. • Must be able to pass background check to receive badging for the SLC Airport • Experience with advanced carpentry techniques (e.g., custom furniture, cabinetry). • Familiarity with various wood types, finishing techniques, and construction methods. • Knowledge of safety protocols and building codes.
