Heavy Equipment Operator

Qualifications • Minimum of 3 years of experience operating heavy equipment. • Proficiency in using Trimble GPS systems for grading and excavation. • Strong knowledge of construction site safety protocols. • Ability to read and interpret construction plans. • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required). • Physical ability to work in various weather conditions and lift heavy objects as needed. • Experience supervising earth-moving operations is preferred. • Certifications in heavy equipment operation are a plus. • Experience in road construction and site development is advantageous. • OSHA or MSHA safety training certification is preferred. Excavation Superintendent

Position Summary Join a leading construction company known for its commitment to safety, quality, and innovation. We are seeking an experienced Excavation Superintendent to oversee all earthwork operations on assigned construction sites. This role is crucial in coordinating and supervising grading, excavation, trenching, and related site development activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of GPS machine control systems and layout tools and will be responsible for training new hires on safe and effective operating techniques, as well as company policies and expectations. Responsibilities • Supervise and manage all dirt/earthwork crews and subcontractors on site. • Coordinate and schedule daily activities, ensuring proper equipment and manpower are allocated efficiently. • Ensure compliance with project specifications, construction drawings, and safety regulations. • Oversee the setup and maintenance of GPS systems for grading and excavation equipment. • Work with survey crews to ensure accurate layout, elevation, and site topography using GPS and traditional methods. • Train new hires on equipment operation techniques, safety procedures, and company policies. • Monitor employee performance and provide mentorship and feedback to help build strong, reliable teams. • Collaborate with utility coordinators and engineers to maintain accurate grading and site control. • Ensure all equipment is properly lined up, cleaned, fueled, and greased at the end of each workday. • Monitor and restock supplies as needed, including DEF, cleaning supplies, cab brooms, and trash bags. • Troubleshoot and resolve field issues to avoid project delays. • Maintain quality control for all phases of earthwork operations. • Review and approve timecards, equipment logs, and daily reports. • Assist with project planning, budgeting, and forecasting related to dirt work. • Enforce company policies and promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Qualifications • Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy civil construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. • Extensive knowledge of earthwork procedures, grading, soil compaction, and equipment operations. • Proficient in the setup and operation of GPS machine control systems and layout tools (e.g., Trimble). • Proven ability to read and interpret civil construction plans and specifications. • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. • Experience in mentoring and training field personnel, especially in operational best practices and safety. • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing project needs. • Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus. • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
