Welder Job Description DWM Holdings is seeking the ideal candidate to fill a 1st shift Production Team Welder position. The Production Team Welder will be responsible for fitting and welding of steel and aluminum using a MIG and/or TIG process, and work on special projects as required. This person reports directly to the Production Manager and is a member of the Production department. Responsibilities: • Understands and applies safe work practices in accordance with ANSIZ49.1 and company policy • Familiar with welding documentation such as WPS, PQR, WPQR. • Able to locate and understand shielding gas, filler metal, and base material certifications • Experienced in welding to AWS D1.1 Structural Steel and AWS D1.2 Structural Aluminum standards • Proficient with GMAW (MIG) using solid wire and metal core (FCAW experience is useful) • Capable of performing fillet welds in the flat and horizontal positions, fixed and rotated • Consistently produces structurally sound, aesthetically pleasing welds in a fast-paced production environment • Performs in-process quality inspections of own work and executes high- quality repairs quickly • Takes full ownership of a welding machine and adheres to a daily/weekly PM schedule • Maintains a clean and organized work area in accordance with 6S principles and company policy • Utilizes thermal-cutting equipment such as flame-cutting torch or plasma-arc equipment to fabricate parts • Fills cavities or corrects malformation in parts and hammers out bulges and bends in metal workpieces Requirements: • Safety conscious and thoroughly familiar with ANSI Z49.1, Safety in Welding, Cutting, and Allied Processes (available online for free at: http://www.aws.org/library/doclib/AWS-Z49.pdf ) • Thrives in a collaborative team setting • Able to pass a practical weld test on company products, using sample drawings and WPS • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in challenging positions and tight areas) • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds • Demonstrated commitment to professional development and lifelong learning • Ability to read and interpret documents furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form such as blueprints, drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, quality manuals and procedure manuals • Must be reliable, self-motivated, and have a strong work ethic. • Willing to work 40+ hours a week, 1st Shift (7:00 am - 3:30 pm or 5:30 pm, depending on workload) • Associates Degree in Welding Technology highly preferred.
