SUMMARY: Individuals in this position fit-up and weld company products. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Welds company products at standard rate using GMAW (“MIG”) • Uses drawings to fit-up company products • Uses personal tools to assist in the above • Works with other welders on large projects • Consistently meets quality standards and documents the same as required • Designs and builds jigs and fixtures as needed • Interacts with engineering for clarity and problem solving • Uses GTAW (“TIG”) and FCAW welding processes when required • Interprets drawings to layout and fit-up large/complex weldments • Mentors less experienced team members • Assumes leadership role coordinating team members on large projects • Other duties as assigned SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None. However, Welders that support their supervisor in managing team members may earn a Cell Leader role. QUALIFICATIONS: • Pass pre-employment math & measurement test • Pass GMAW (MIG) weld test • Ability to read mechanical drawings, including weld symbols preferred EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: • High School Diploma or GED equivalent • High school or Trade school welding certificate preferred • 1-2 year(s) experience preferred LANGUAGE SKILLS: • Must be able to read and write in the English language MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) • Able to convert decimals to fractions and fractions to decimals • Ability to read a tape measure within 1/16” COMPUTER SKILLS: • Basic keyboarding skills including printing documents PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment is an industrial metal fabrication shop with exposure to machinery, fumes, and airborne particles.
