As a Welder 3 (CI Tech) at Caterpillar you will: • Quick repairs on production line equipment • Implement safety measures • Work with fabrication technicians, manufacturing planners, and manufacturing engineers on improvement projects. • Follow and utilize CPS principles of 5S, Continuous Improvement Idea Reporting, Waste Elimination, and Standard Work. • Assist with resolution of CI cards. • Help provide tooling support to the line, including welding, fabrication, assembly, and/or Machining. • Utilizes systems such as Microsoft Office such as Teams, PowerPoint, etc. • Once trained, utilizes 2D and/or 3D modeling software and CNC router/plasma software • Able to MIG, TIG, and stick weld to support various projects • Able to machine components using manual mill and lathe • Relies on independent decision-making and problem solving to complete job tasks • Cross-functional communication to complete tasks • Ability to multitask and prioritize work • Must meet deadlines. • Prioritize safety • Work independently with limited supervision • Contributing team member Physical Requirements: • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods • Ability to perform repetitive operations • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs Basic Qualifications: • Prior experience working in a Manufacturing or shop environment • Prior experience with welding, fabrication, and machining • Must currently be at least in a Welder II position Top Candidates will also have: • Mechanical experience such as tool design, auto/home repair, etc. • Prior experience programming a CNC router/plasma table • Prior experience using a mill and/or lathe • Advanced level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications • Prior experience using 2D and/or 3D modeling software and the ability to read blueprints. • Prior experience using 3D printer Additional Information: Resumes are highly encouraged. As a Welder at Caterpillar you will: • Uses various tools provided in the work area to perform welding duties including but not limited to:- Operating robotic and manual MIG weld machines. • Inspecting own work including quality checks utilizing weld and attribute gauges and other measuring tools. • Performing in station repair on defective welds utilizing carbon air arc process, grinders, etc. • Clearing common robotic welding system faults • Mechanical job duties may include: - Use of lifting devices to move heavy components of weights of more than 35 lbs to position heavy fabricated metal components in weld fixtures. • Perform routine maintenance (wire change, tip/nozzle change) • Follows documented procedures standard work, routings, and blueprints to perform safe and defect free operations to create and machine components. • Follows and utilizes CPS principles of 5S, Continuous Improvement Idea Reporting, Waste Elimination, and Standard Work. • Responsible for process and final inspections. What you will have: • Must have welding operation experience • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods • Ability to perform repetitive operations • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
