Job Summary: The Welder/Fabricator at Foss Recycling is responsible for the repair, fabrication, and maintenance of heavy equipment, machinery, and attachments. This role will involve traveling to various Foss Recycling yard locations to conduct welding repairs while maintaining responsibilities at the home location in Goldsboro, NC. Please complete the Culture Index survey using this link – https://go.cultureindex.com/s/pua7qh662f Key Responsibilities: • Travel to multiple Foss Recycling locations to perform on-site welding repairs for heavy equipment, including shredders, balers, and other machinery. • Fabricate and assemble structural metal products using various welding techniques. • Develop layouts and plan sequence of operations, considering material properties and welding shrinkage. • Cut, shape, and bend metal using fabrication equipment such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, and drill presses. • Read and interpret blueprints and schematics for custom fabrication and repairs. • Operate grinders and other tools to prepare metal surfaces for welding. • Maintain and repair equipment in accordance with company standards and maintenance schedules. • Ensure all welding and fabrication work meets safety and quality standards. • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area. • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager. Qualifications & Requirements:Education & Experience: • Preferred: High School Diploma or GED. • Preferred: Minimum of two (2) years of experience in welding and fabrication. • Experience working with heavy equipment and machinery is a plus. Skills & Abilities: • Strong knowledge of MIG, TIG, Stick, and Arc welding techniques. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. • Proficiency in metalworking tools and equipment such as cutting torches, grinders, and drill presses. • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Ability to travel regularly to different Foss Recycling locations as needed. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions: • Work is performed in garage and outdoor environments, often exposed to varying weather conditions. • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods. • Required to wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) including safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, and hard hats. Performance Metrics: • Timely completion of welding and fabrication projects without compromising safety. • High-quality welds free of gaps, cracks, or defects. • Effective organization and cleanliness of the fabrication shop and work areas. • Adherence to safety standards, with zero preventable accidents or equipment failures due to welding errors.
