Welding Operations Specialist

The Manufacturing Operations Specialist is responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of assigned machinery, as well as managing and replenishing materials required for production. This role combines the duties of machine operation, material handling, and inventory control to support smooth production workflows in the welding department. Essential Job Duties Material Handling & Replenishment: • Ensure materials for welders and operators are available and kitted prior to and throughout production runs. • Verify materials are ready and available for scheduled production. • Safely and accurately move, replenish, and transfer materials within the plant using proper equipment. • Accurately document material movements and transfers in DataFlo or equivalent ERP system. • Report any shortages, material availability concerns, or quality issues to the coach or team leader. Machine Operation: • Operate assigned machinery to fabricate, monitor, manufacture, and assemble products. • Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup and operation. • Monitor production equipment, making adjustments to machine settings as necessary, including regulating pressure and speed. • Perform periodic checks to ensure that products meet specifications and quality standards. Quality Control: • Verify parts are correct to specifications before use, ensuring accurate part numbers and descriptions. • Conduct basic and precise measurements using tools such as rulers, gauges, and calipers. • Identify and report any quality concerns to the coach or team leader. Preventive Maintenance & Safety: • Perform preventive maintenance on assigned machinery. • Conduct safety checks on all equipment and ensure proper use of safety equipment and PPE at all times. • Ensure the work area is free of hazards, and maintain housekeeping standards by keeping equipment and workspaces clean and organized. • Adhere to all safety protocols, including Lockout-Tagout procedures. General Operations Support: • Assist with setup for next production runs and operate additional machinery as needed. • Support other operations or departments as required by the supervisor. • Complete and maintain daily material handling checklists. • Perform other duties as assigned by management. III. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Basic computer literacy. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, and perform measurements using various hand tools. Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment. Basic mechanical aptitude, with the ability to adjust machinery as needed. Knowledge of safety procedures, including Lockout-Tagout. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team. Basic math skills, including addition, multiplication, fractions, and division. Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs, and work in varied conditions (summer heat, winter cold, noise). IV. Education, Credentials & Experience High School Diploma or GED (preferred). 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with experience in machine operation and material handling. Bilingual (preferred). V. Working Environment & Physical Effort Must adhere to safety standards, including the use of PPE (e.g., steel-toed shoes, warehouse vests). Requires repetitive work, standing, bending, twisting, and lifting throughout the day. Ability to lift, load, and move parts weighing up to 50 pounds. Must work in conditions with varying temperatures (summer heat, winter cold) and loud noise. Overtime may be required, including weekends.
