Overview: Job Description: Welder Journeyman The Welder Journeyman is responsible for installations, alterations, additions, and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment within the residential, commercial, and industrial electrical industry. The incumbent of this position is responsible for assigned field installations, alterations, additions, and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment. Incumbent performs this work within an established time frame and ensures that this work is done in conformance with quality work standards, project man-hours, and in the established company guidelines and within regulatory compliance. Fabricate rack brackets, supports, and junction boxes, miscellaneous repairs to equipment, trailers, and job shacks and other company-owned items, equipment, and vehicles. Responsibilities: Specific Responsibilities of Welder Journeyman • Welding of rebar of all sizes. • Fabricate rack brackets, supports and junction boxes, miscellaneous repairs to equipment, trailers and job shacks. • Assist in prefabbing of any and all needed items. • Must be able to report to assigned job site location on time as directed. • Maintain and properly store tools and equipment. • Proper use and safe handling of tools, equipment and materials. • Accurately organize materials and tools in order to maintain clean and neat work area. • Has ability to erect and understand pulley systems to lift/move heavy objects. • Must be cable of digging trenches, either by use of hand tools or equipment. • Accurately read labels, job site maps/directions, manuals and written instructions. • Employee must be able to direct/train helpers & apprentices in proper work practices. • Must have ability to plan and organize task in order to meet task deadlines. • Ability to visualize completed work prior to installation. • Have skill to accurately install duct banks and understand spacing requirements. • Able to install switchgear. • Understand the Proper use/selection of cables for proper installation per NEC. This position is Full-Time, Exempt/Non-Exempt, and reports to the [appropriate supervisor]. Qualifications: Welder Journeyman Qualifications Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications • High School Diploma or GED. • 4 or more years of experience and meets requirements. • Able to keep welding equipment and accessories in good working conditions. • Reading of blueprints and schematics. • Knowledge of welding machine (oil, fuel, etc.), torches, helix arc equipment. • Must have a valid driver's license (CDL). • Have certificates in MIG, TIG, and short arc applications. • Needs to have basic tools to perform the job (hood, gloves, etc.). • Must be able to report to assigned job site location on time as directed. • Assist in safe rigging of materials for installations. • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead. • Effective verbal and written communication skills. • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment. • Well versed in the industry and the Company’s competitors. • Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary. • Effective verbal and written communication skills. • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment. • Versed in the industry and the Company’s competitors. • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary. Physical/Work Environment Requirements • Climb ladders of all types. • Job may require working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain or snow. • Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities. (Porta-Johns). • Must be able to work from all types of ladders. (Step ladders up to 14’, “A” frame ladders and all size extension ladders and must be able to carry and relocate 12’ stepladder by oneself). • Must wear personal protective equipment at all times. (i.e. hard hats, safety glasses, safety harnesses as required) and respirators when required. • Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers. • This position may work with energized circuits or in/with energized equipment. • Ability to remain calm in times of heightened emotional situations. • Must work smoothly with others as a member of a team to complete tasks. • Must be able to make a transition from employee parking area of the street into construction areas and to gain access to all levels of the building or structure, even if the only means of access is by OSHA approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction but acceptable for use. • Ability to work in noisy environments. • Work in restrictive/tight areas. (i.e. switchgear rooms, crawl spaces, utility tunnels, etc.). • Ability to work while constantly moving on one’s feet. • Possess good vision/hearing. (Normal or corrected). • Ability to reach and stretch to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balance. • Must have the ability to use both hands simultaneously for tying knots and in the use of power equipment. • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead. • Ability to lift by oneself workloads of 51 lbs. • Job requires the employee to have required hand tools with them at all times while at the worksite (Waist tool belts can weigh up to 30 lbs.). Pay Range: USD $28.00 - USD $30.00 /Hr.
