Job Posting Title Welder/Fabricator/Maintenance Techinician Job Description Summary Oxford Forge, a division of AAM (American Axle & Manufacturing), is seeking a qualified Welder/Fabricator/Maintenance Technician to support operations in our metal forming facility specializing in axle and driveline component manufacturing. This is a first shift position that combines industrial maintenance responsibilities with welding and fabrication duties. The role is critical to maintaining equipment uptime, safety, and supporting production through custom metalwork and mechanical repairs. Job Description Maintenance Duties: • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on forging presses, heat treat lines, machining centers, and related heavy manufacturing equipment. • Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems in a fast-paced metal forming environment. • Repair and maintain conveyors, gearboxes, motors, pumps, and drive systems. • Assist in installation and commissioning of new machinery and upgrades. • Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime and support continuous production. • Accurately document maintenance work in the PLEX system. Welding & Fabrication Duties • Perform structural and precision welding (MIG, TIG, Stick) on heavy-duty steel components and machine parts. • Fabricate custom fixtures, guards, supports, and brackets using cutting, grinding, and metal forming tools. • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, fabrication drawings, and welding symbols. • Modify and repair machine frames, press components, and safety structures in-house. • Maintain welding and fabrication tools, and ensure adherence to all safety procedures. Required Skills And Education • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or vocational training in maintenance or welding is a plus. • 2–5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a metal forming or heavy manufacturing environment. • Proven ability to perform MIG, TIG, and Stick welding on carbon steel and alloy materials. • Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical power transmission. • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals. • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and Lockout/Tagout procedures. • Must be self-directed, safety-focused, and able to work with minimal supervision.
