Typical Duties: • Select equipment and plan lay out, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining weld shrinkage, and welding techniques • Lay out, position, align and fit components together • Bolt, clamps, and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding • Set up equipment and weld parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, or gas welding equipment • May repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts, using cutting torch, straightening press, and hand tools • Ability to read drawings and blueprints • Other tasks appointed by the Supervisor Physical Requirements: • Work easily and skillfully with hands • Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs • Climb and maintain balance on high ladders, scaffolds, and other elevated work platforms • Stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, or crawl for extended periods of time The above description covers the principal duties and responsibilities of the job.
