Job Purpose: Responsible for all aspects of welding work Essential Functions: • Performing all aspects of welding work. • Safely operate heavy equipment and follow all safety policies and procedures. • Perform other jobs within the shop as required to assist in meeting business demands. • Maintains all aspects of workplace organization. • Ensures Compliance in all safety, health, and environmental regulations, policies, and procedures for a goal of zero incidents and injuries. • Communicate consistently on all activities to appropriate individuals (internal and external). • Maintain ongoing communication and adhere to all Company policies to eliminate and or reduce exposure to liability. • Special projects or work as assigned by the Supervisor. Qualifications Guidelines Experience/Training/Education: Required: High school education or equivalent, basic welding knowledge, ability to read blueprints and recognize weld symbols Desired: 2+ years of experience in all position flux core wire, fitting experience. Welds subject to UT weld testing Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Requires good communication, interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and follow instructions. Requires an eye for detail. Thorough knowledge and understanding of applicable operating and documentation procedures and material flow; Ability to meet deadlines; to understand and follow written and verbal instructions; Ability to understand and follow posted work rules and procedures; ability to accept constructive criticism; ability to prioritize, organize, solve problems, and complete tasks independently; ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with supervisors, members of management, vendors, and other employees. Physical and Environmental Elements: This is a production classification and employees work indoors (in all seasons) with exposure to heat, cold, noise, chemicals, heavy equipment and machinery. Accurate hand/eye coordination is required. Finger dexterity is required, as well as hand strength, with the ability to grasp, lift, push and pull. Work involves considerable climbing, twisting, bending, squatting and kneeling for long periods of time. May lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds and pull approximately 20 lbs. Need to have the ability to ascend and descent a ladder and/or scaffolding. Special Requirements/Certification: Welder will have no more than three attempts to meet the Welder Test Criteria. For each welding process welders are required to pass two full penetration groove weld tests. This will be to a backing stripped, one inch thick, 45 degree groove in the flat and horizontal positions. These will be radiographically tested and interpreted to AWS D14.1 criteria. Job Description and Title: Aluminum Welder II - Mig Welder (Marine Boat Builder) Department: Production Reports To: Welding Lead SUMMARY: Lays out, fits, and Mig welds formed sheet metal components to assemble aluminum boats and subassemblies. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES of Boat Builder: Responsible for following the quality systems procedures. Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding. Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together. Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding. Sets up equipment and welds parts, using gas-shielded arc, or gas welding equipment. Other duties as assigned.
