Qualifications Guidelines Experience/Training/Education: Required: High school education or equivalent, basic welding knowledge, ability to read blueprints and recognize weld symbols Desired: 2+ years of experience in all position flux core wire, fitting experience. Welds subject to UT weld testing Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Requires good communication, interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and follow instructions. Requires an eye for detail. Physical and Environmental Elements: This is a production classification and employees work indoors (in all seasons) with exposure to heat, cold, noise, chemicals, heavy equipment and machinery. Accurate hand/eye coordination is required. Finger dexterity is required, as well as hand strength, with the ability to grasp, lift, push and pull. Work involves considerable climbing, twisting, bending, squatting and kneeling for long periods of time. May lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds and pull approximately 20 lbs. Need to have the ability to ascend and descent a ladder and/or scaffolding. Special Requirements/Certification: Welder will have no more than three attempts to meet the Welder Test Criteria. For each welding process welders are required to pass two full penetration groove weld tests. This will be to a backing stripped, one inch thick, 45 degree groove in the flat and horizontal positions. These will be radiographically tested and interpreted to AWS D14.1 criteria. Welders Helper

Excel Boat Company is hiring a Welder’s Helper for its Union City, TN plant. We are the national premier boat-building company for the recreation industry. Our boats are built tough, and our fit and finish are first-class. Our specialty is bay, bass, walleye, salmon, duck hunting, and crappie fishing boats. We take great pride in what we do and look to hire those who will do the same. Position Profile Excel Boats seeks a Welder’s Helper to aid in current and future production in the welding department. This person will work alongside other welder’s helpers and assist welders in meeting variable production goals. Duties and Responsibilities • Work one step of welders at all time by gathering hoses, gunwales, ribs, etc. • Drill holes for deck and box drains. Drill holes in transoms and splash well. • Trim and fit components. Cut extrusions to specification. • Keep work area clean and organized at all times. Tool tables need to visually aesthetic at all time. Everything in its proper place. • Ability to swap our Argon bottles and wire spool inside welding machine • Get knee braces/drain pipe welded before they are needed. • Accurately cut hoses and gunwales to specification. • Grind down all weld tacks. • Check transom angles with digital levels. • Wire brush all welds and wipe down boat during the boat build. • Assist welder inside the boat maintaining a clean area. • Understand proper placement of parts on carts and location of parts in boat. • Prepare parts cart for next boat when a boat is coming of jig. Qualifications • Able to read a tape measure, understand fractions, simple math – addition, subtraction, multiplication, division. • Capable of using basic hand tools. • Ability to maintain connection and communication among other employees and management. • Capable individual will be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily in a fast-paced industrial environment. • Capable of standing all day, no sitting down on job; repetitive use of hands and arms. Ability to walk, climb, balance, twist, turn, grasp, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. May need to work intermittently from a ladder. • Required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently. When bending hulls need to be able to lift/move upward of 75 pounds, or 250 lbs collectively.
