New hires will undergo an internal training program to be given the tools to become successful tank welders/fitters. Determines amperage and voltage settings, feed rate settings, weld procedures, weld size, and amount of penetration required. Grinds and/or cleans seams to ensure the required penetration and necessary UT quality weld. Performs daily, weekly, and monthly operator preventative maintenance on seam weld machines. Adjust amperage, voltage, speed rates, and machine pressures constantly throughout the welding process to compensate for variations from the cutting and bending operations and the material variations. Other duties assigned.Required Education, Skills, and Experience: A high school diploma or equivalent; a welding certificate is highly preferred. Advanced knowledge of MIG and/or TIG welding fundamentals is required. Must be able to perform continuous 36-inch welds Advanced blueprint reading is required Must be able to understand general tolerances Layout welder skill knowledge is a plus Advanced math skills in addition, subtraction, and multiplication are a plus. Welding, setup, and tank experience in manufacturing is a plus.Physical Component(s): Standing and walking up to 100% of work time.
