WELDER needed in Jonesboro Job Title: Welder Location: Jonesboro, AR Pay: $21.00 an hour Schedule: 5:00 pm - 7:00am ( Will train on days) 7 pm to 5:30 am 21.00 per hour Must be able to pass hair follicle drug test BACKGROUND FRIENDLY!!! Summary The Welder 1 position is responsible for performing quality welding of parts and fixtures in the railcar manufacturing process. This position performs manual or semi-automatic welding processes to assemble parts or attach fixtures to a railcar using various equipment such as welding machines, torches and hand tools. Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices. • Fits, aligns and clamps railcar parts, usually in jigs and fixtures, to prepare for welding steel. • Cleans and preps surface area to be welded using a grinder or other hand tools designated for the job. • Performs manual or semi-automatic arc welding of railcar parts, sub-assemblies, and assemblies on a bench, floor, or assembly line. • Follows weld procedures outlined in Standard Operating Procedures by preheating work, maintaining heat and speed of travel to assure penetration and weld bead size, grinding work incidental welding, and removing slag. • Visually inspects welds, repairs defective welds, and performs minor repairs to welding equipment. • Performs occasional air, arc or flame cutting to repair defective welds. • Ensures that safety and housekeeping standards are met and maintained. Qualifications The following generally describes requirements to successfully perform the assigned duties. Minimum Qualifications • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions • Ability to work independently or with a team • Ability to complete and pass weld qualifications testing after attending company provided weld training. Preferred Qualifications • High School diploma or equivalent • Experience using a manual or semi-automatic arc welder • Experience operating a forklift or overhead crane • Experience working in a a production environment • Ability to learn to operate a forklift and overhead crane and complete certifications required through company training.
