Job Description General welding and metal cutting processes ranging from simple piece parts to complex designs. Welding/Fabrication on our plant sites and Sand & Gravel operations may require some travel. Responsibilities include but are not limited to; • Perform minor to advanced welding processes per print specifications. Can operate flame cutting equipment • Perform the following weld processes: MIG, TIG, and Stick. • Possesses the ability to select proper voltage, current, heat, gas and feed settings for proper welding operations to be performed. • Prepares for necessary weld operations through proper machine and jig setups • Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner, utilizing required safety equipment. Keeps work area neat and orderly. • Weld components and units with specified size and type of weld, proper strength, and neat appearance. • Weld elements to make regular and irregular, eccentric, and symmetrical weldments of simple, ordinary, and complex design. Essential Functions: Perform welding and grinding operations on assemblies using wire feed arc welding machines Education: High school diploma or GED Successful completion of the GMAW 1 welding course through Central Community College or equivalent Certifications: - Forklift, if applicable - Aluminum - Steel Quality Metric: - Scrap Dollars - Rejected and/or missing welds Minimum Qualifications - Demonstrate ability to read and understand TK prints for specific department. - Must successfully complete a welding demonstration - Internal bidders must complete the GMAW 1 welding course through CCC before being considered for the position, unless they currently possess the necessary welding certifications for the position. External hires must initiate the Thermo King Certification process within the first 30 days of hire. Introductory Level: Primary focus is learning the process - Successful completion of introductory period (6 months) - Understands, accepts, and supports vision and key business goals - Supports and demonstrates a well-organized, safe and clean workplace - Basic understanding, support and commitment to the team and continuous improvement - Resolves the problems at the lowest level possible - Identifies possible solutions when communicating problems - Follows rules of conduct at all times - Ability to learn, understand and adhere to standard work - Understands the importance of safety, quality, delivery and cost - Responsive to internal and external customer needs Essential Functions (Maximum Timeframe 6 months) - Complete blueprint reading training and/or demonstrate the ability to read and understand Thermo King welding blueprints - Able to successfully complete 30 minutes of standard work within takt. - Demonstrate good quality welds in both aluminum and/or steel by meeting department requirements - Demonstrate ability to make minor adjustments on machines, including maintenance by meeting department checklist requirements - Be able to demonstrate the ability to use all required measuring equipment - Be able to demonstrate the ability to identify, load/unload jigs and fixtures - Successfully complete and maintain two of the necessary certifications - Have a basic understanding of documentation (examples include ISO, Windchill, Kanban, and TKSs).
