Experienced Welder

Geoprobe® is seeking an experienced welder/fabricator to join a growing team. Successful candidates are committed to high quality work, like variety in tasks, and have a passion for welding and fabrication. Responsibilities • Safely fabricate and assemble metal structures and equipment using MIG welder (TIG welding experience is a bonus), band saw, shear, metal punch, and measuring tools • Set-up, operate, and maintain welding equipment • Determine the structurally appropriate size & length of weld necessary when documentation does not specify • Read and accurately interpret blueprints to determine operations, required materials and timeframes for projects • Provide finished quality required (both with and without fixturing) in a reasonable time • Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor You might be a good fit if you... • Take pride in providing high quality workmanship • Like problem-solving • Enjoy building things • Want to help others • Want to expand your skills • Desire to be part of a team Requirements • High school degree • Basic computer knowledge and willingness to learn more • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Follows all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wears prescribed safety and protective equipment • Obtains specified electrode and inserts electrode into portable holder or threads consumable electrode wire through portable welding gun. • Connects cables from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse, as specified by Welding Supervisor. • Starts power supply to produce electric current. • Strikes (forms) arc which generates heat to melt and deposit metal from electrode/wire to work piece and join edges of work piece. • Manually guides electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld, and size of molten puddle. • Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions. • Examines weld for bead size and other specifications. • Applies filler rod/wire manually to supply weld metal. • Cleans or degreases weld joint or work piece. • Repairs broken or cracked parts and fills holes. • Prepares broken parts for welding by grooving or scarfing surfaces. • Chips off excess weld, slag, and spatter. • Positions and clamps work pieces together or assembles them in jig or fixture. • Tacks assemblies together. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one situation. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add and subtract in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS Must be able to successfully pass a supervised welding test. Welder – 1st Shift – Lucas, KS Land Pride, a division of Great Plains Mfg, is seeking a 1st Shift Welder for our facility in Lucas, KS This position works Monday through Thursday, from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with overtime on Fridays as required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Load fixtures and weld parts as required Safely use all tools necessary for the position Maintain inventory accuracy at all times Read blueprints and utilize AWS weld symbols as required for the position Consistently achieve quality welds while staying on production schedule Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.Preferred Skills and Qualifications: MIG welding experience and ability to pass weld test, as required.
