ABOUT THE POSITION Under the direction and supervision of the Department Production Manager and in cooperation with the Production Supervisor and Production Lead, weld metal components with welding equipment to fit and join, fabricate, and/or repair heavy and large mechanical products per specifications and in accordance with the production schedule. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (may include but not limited to) • Ability to perform grinding and be able to pass a required welding skills test. • Necessary to be able to do all Grinder tasks. • Must be able to safely perform gang-welding techniques (dos and don’ts). • Must be able to safely weld vertical, flat, and overhead with both MiG and stick. • Must inspect metal prior to welding for smoothness and acceptability and clean welds to presentable state (grinding operations). • Must work with Fitters on proper assembly of equipment. • Keep work area clean and neat. • Clock in on assigned jobs as appropriate. • Ensure welding machine settings are appropriate for work to be performed. • Must be able to safely use cranes and forklifts. • Must be trained in and know PPE requirements for welding including hood and filter shades and arm/body protection. • Must be able to read and understand weld symbols. • Must maintain welding machines by keeping them clean and changing liners in the welding guns. • Follows company policies and procedures at all times. • Follows proper safety rules and procedures at all times. • Performs other duties as assigned. To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are: • High School Diploma or GED required. • 0-1 Year of Welding experience required. • Heavy equipment manufacturing experience preferred • Computer experience desired, particularly the ability to use a mouse and locate and open/close programs/files. • Knowledge and ability to perform all Grinder tasks required. • Ability to properly and safely MiG weld, stick weld, and arc gouging required. • Ability to read and understand weld symbols required. The employee may occasionally be exposed to varying levels of dirt, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, very warm and/or very chilly temperatures. The noise level in the shop can be very loud at times consistent with an industrial assembly facility and may require hearing protection. About The Role Assist in assembling and welding of trailers as directed. Responsibilities • Perform flat and horizontal welds within acceptable limits set by TK standard. • Read and understand blueprints for specified trailer. • Assist Lead Welder in assigned stall to effectively and efficiently produce trailers. • Perform minimal assembly procedures successfully. • Operates over-head and jib cranes safely and efficiently. • Maintain acceptable attendance per Company guidelines. • Follows all safety procedures and regulations. • Perform other duties as assigned.
