ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Take direction from Welder they are setting up for. • Hold, position, and read tape or rod to assist in layout. • Place and move blocking, braces, and jigs to hold parts. • Hammer wedges and drift pins, and turn turnbuckles. Pull pry bars to align parts. • Grind or chip rough edges, surplus weld, or scale. • Position and turn clamps, and bolts together butt straps or parts. • Transport and furnish welding materials, tools, and supplies. • Utilize engineering drawings which display dimensional characteristics. • Clean work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
